Purpose: To keep displays, shelves, and coolers fully stocked and to provide prompt, friendly, and courteous customer service. To learn about Wellness products and offer information to customers. Status: Level II, General Staff, Supervised by the Grocery manager
Responsibilities:
CUSTOMER SERVICE
- Assist customers with product questions in a prompt, and courteous manner, referring them to other staff when necessary.
- Offer suggestions for purchases and provide customers with product information, including proper usage of products, in keeping with FDA and DSHEA guidelines.
- Work as part of a team to develop a hospitable department space that feels welcoming to all.
- Working knowledge about all Wellness products and where they are located.
- Help customers place special orders, field customer phone calls.
STOCKING
- Replenish and rotate displays, bins and shelves using FIFO (first in, first out).
- Stock displays fully without overcrowding; face items on shelves.
- Work as part of team and establish priorities to curate aesthetically pleasing displays.
- Pull short-date or low-quality items and notify Buyer before disposing of them properly.
- Maintain backstock area to keep it neat and organized.
- Label products with appropriate PLU, price, and country of origin.
RECEIVING
- Check deliveries to verify piece count; notify Buyer of discrepancies.
- Check for damage and unacceptable quality; notify Buyer of problems.
- Help with unloading as needed.
- Rotate overstock into storage.
- Update stocking list as orders come in.
- Immediately move refrigerated deliveries to designated coolers.
DEPARTMENT MAINTENANCE
- See that unsaleable items are properly disposed of. Keep accurate shrinkage records.
- Ensure that Wellness bins, aisles, shelves and storage areas are clean, orderly, and meet health standards.
- Remove trash promptly; sweep and spot mop floor as needed.
- Participate in inventory counts.
- Ensure maintenance of department equipment and notify Center Store Manager if equipment breaks.
SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Follow GreenStar’s safety rules.
- Assist other employees in safety needs.
- Report unsafe equipment and conditions.
- Participate in safety training programs.
- Perform other tasks as assigned to ensure a safe and healthy work environment.
STOREWIDE AND OTHER DUTIES
- Attend Human Resources trainings, all-staff meetings, department meetings, and OBM Huddles to stay informed.
- Read GreenStar publications to stay informed.
- Respect and comply with storewide personnel policies.
- Describe membership benefits, and how membership investment is made.
- Adhere to scheduled shifts.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
- Effective interpersonal communication skills; both verbal and written.
- Demonstrated ability to follow through on commitments.
- Open to input/feedback on work performance.
- Open to giving input/feedback on Wellness department.
- Self-Driven/Motivated throughout shift.
- Knowledge about natural body care products, supplements, and herbs.
- Continuing interest in learning about wellness products through trainings & webinars.
- Demonstrated ability to handle multiple demands, stay calm, and prioritize.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds repetitively.
