APPRENTICE CLIMBER

• Experience:

  • Prior climbing experience required.

• Education and Knowledge:

  • Willingness to learn proper pruning techniques and tree trimming practices.
  • Interest in gaining knowledge of native and introduced tree species and their characteristics.
  • Commitment to understanding and following safety protocols and equipment usage.

• Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to climb, work on ladders, and stand on raised platforms under supervision.
  • Capable of lifting up to 20 pounds for extended periods.
  • Capable of pushing or pulling up to 70 pounds.
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions, including extreme temperatures.

• Skills and Attitudes:

  • Eagerness to learn and take direction from experienced climbers and forepersons.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Quick learner with attention to detail and strong adherence to safety guidelines.

• Work Environment:

  • Willingness to travel as required for projects.
  • Comfortable working near energized power lines and hazardous equipment under supervision.

• Safety Requirements:

  • Compliance with all safety standards, including wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) such as helmets, reflective vests, hearing protection, and safety glasses.
