What are the responsibilities and job description for the Preschool Child Care Teacher position at Greentree Childcare & Learning Center?
We are seeking applicants for a teaching position in a preschool classroom at our W Madison St. location. The lead teacher is responsible for supervising the classroom and promoting the social-emotional, cognitive, and physical development of the children enrolled. The position is full time, Monday through Friday, 8 hours per day/40 hours per week.
Duties
The preschool teacher will develop and implement weekly lesson plans focusing on Kindergarten readiness skills that are developmentally appropriate for the age group. The teacher will complete ongoing observation and assessments of the children to modify the activities to meet the needs of each child. Activities may include large and small group, as well as individual interactions. Other duties include assisting the children with self-help skills and providing routine care (such as support at meal times and during toileting), as well as organizing and maintaining the classroom. Teachers must be able to supervise and manage a classroom, sometimes including children with differing abilities and challenging behaviors. Teachers are responsible for communicating with families verbally and in writing, and keeping updated records. Teachers are also responsible for tracking their mandated yearly training hours and ensuring compliance with state regulations.
Requirements
Applicants must have a high school diploma or GED.
A current Child Development Associate (CDA) credential or equivalent college degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field is preferred. Please bring copies of current credentials to the interview.
Applicants must pass a fingerprint-based background check.
A copy of a TB skin test is required prior to entrance to the classroom.
Applicants must have the physical capacity to lift up to 40 pounds.
Nice To Haves
Classroom experience is a plus. Knowledge of KY child care regulations and the KY ALL STARS program is also preferred.
