HOURS: M-F 12pm-6pm
Under the general supervision of the Coordinator of Infant and Child Services, this position assists in the provision of skill building and childcare services at Serenity Village. This occurs through daily therapeutic and non-therapeutic activities for children who have behavioral concerns primarily due to a parents substance use disorder. No supervisory requirements.
This position involves activities that require ability to lift 50 lbs., reaching, climbing, standing for long periods of time and grasping. Vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word. Hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken levels. Visual acuity is required for preparing or analyzing written or computer data, determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work, and observing surroundings and activities. The worker is not subjected to adverse environmental conditions.
JOB DUTIES
- Assists in the planning and implementation of a developmentally appropriate program in accordance with the policies/philosophy of the center
- Provides a consistent, predictable, and enjoyable daily routine
- Assesses and gears the daily program to meet the childs needs on an individualized basis
- Responsible for the ordered arrangement, appearance, cleanliness and safety of the environment
- Participates as needed in case consultations, treatment team and staff meetings
- Participates in recommended and/or required training programs, conferences, courses and other aspects of professional growth
- Participates and facilitates parent/child bonding activities as assigned
- Engages in communication with childs parents to explore childs behavioral concerns and other needs
- Actively support a trauma informed and responsive work environment as demonstrated in the 5 core values of safety, trustworthiness, choice, collaboration, and empowerment.

- Actively supports and implements Motivational Interviewing as the programs core evidence based practice
- Performs other similar and related duties as required
- Position may require occasional extended evenings and weekend hours
REQUIRED TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
HS Diploma or GED and a minimum 3 years demonstrated experience working with children under the age of 7. Associates Degree in a child development related field preferred. Must be able to pass background screening required by DSS to work in a childcare setting. Must also have current SC Drivers license and be able to provide proof of insurance.
