What are the responsibilities and job description for the Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner position at Greenville County Detention Center?
Greenville County Department of Public Safety seeks a Full Time Mental Health Nurse Practitioner to join our healthcare team. A Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) is preferred. In this position, you will play a vital role in the healthcare for inmate patients at the Greenville County Detention Center. The current medical team comprises over 70 employees, including a medical doctor, forensic psychiatrist, five full-time nurse practitioners, nurses, critical care technicians, medical assistants, pharmacy technicians, mental health counselors, and administrative staff.
The candidate will mainly work independently with minimal supervision, conducting mental health assessments and intake evaluations, overseeing safety planning, performing medication reconciliation and management, and providing crisis intervention services. The candidate will also collaborate with the jail's forensic psychiatrist, psychiatric residents from the local teaching hospital, the mental health manager, health services administrator, mental health counselors, and medical staff. The chosen candidate will utilize their knowledge of psychopharmacology and psychotherapy modalities to develop treatment plans for medication management and counseling services to optimize outcomes and improve mental health.
A master's degree in advanced practice nursing in a course of study from an accredited college or university is required that allows for prescriptive privilege upon obtaining an appropriate license. Extensive experience in psychiatric treatment or a PMHNP certification, or equivalent training and experience. Licensed as a nurse practitioner by the South Carolina Board of Nursing or licensed in another state and eligible in South Carolina. A psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner (PMHNP) is preferred. Must possess clinical psychiatric experience.
Salary is commensurate with licensure, education, and experience.
