Summary :
The purpose of Speech Therapists / Speech Language Pathologists at Greenville County School District is to screen students, diagnose speech / language disorders, and conduct therapy to reduce or eliminate speech problems that interfere with the individual student's ability to derive full benefit from the District's education program.
Speech Therapist should have the following qualifications :
- Bachelor's Degree ad approved by the State Department of Education
- Valid South Carolina certification for Speech / Language therapists
Speech / Language Pathologists should have the following qualifications :
Master's Degree or higher from an accredited institution.ASHA Certification of Clinical Competence.LLR Speech Pathology license.Responsibilities :
To conduct the identification program for students with speech disorders by screening referral from teachers and parents and maintain current "at risk" and rescreen lists.To provide appropriate diagnostic services and placement for students with speech disorders.Complete all forms required to enroll a student in the speech therapy program.Hold conferences with parents, administrators, and classroom teachers to determine appropriate placement, yearly IEP goals, reevaluations, and staff-outs.Schedule and conduct therapy for students in the Speech / Language program.Conduct interim and quarterly progress reports.Maintain speech files, therapy logs and student attendance.Collect and submit end of year program statistics and checklists for each assigned building.Coordinate Special Education Reviews (SER) procedures when a speech only student may need additional interventions or evaluations.Complete all forms and procedures required by the Medicaid Program for eligible students.Complete appropriate reevaluation procedures for pure speech students.Coordinate the speech therapy program in order for it to become an integral part of the school curriculum.Serve as a communication consultant for classroom teachers and parents.Provide in-services to school personnel concerning speech-language referralsAttend in-services / conferences to remain current on speech / language issues, maintain CEUs, evidence-based practice and federal and state due process guidelines.Complete the ADEPT mentoring and evaluation process as required.Develop and progress towards the successful completion of speech / language yearly professional goals ( Goal-Based Evaluation)Complete speech / language screening as appropriate to all students referred for A-Team to District Due Process Procedures.Provide parents and teachers with information necessary to help students with communication needs to access the curriculum in the academic environment and functional skills in social environments.Perform all other duties and responsibilities designated by the Speech / Language Coordinator.Other information :
Terms of Employment :
9 1 / 2 months with salary and grade determined by current South Carolina teaching certificate as it relates to the teacher's salary schedule as approved by the Board of Trustees of the Greenville County Schools
