Position Summary

The Nurse Liaison assists with the development and oversight of marketing and admissions programs and services.

Position Responsibilities

The Nurse Liaison has knowledge in marketing and admissions related to frail geriatric residents and patients in the long-term care industry. Responsibilities of the Nurse Liaison include (but are not limited to):

  • Promotes and maintains a focus of patient-centered care
  • Adheres to laws, rules & regulations and practices ethical integrity and interpersonal skills
  • Maintains compliance with long-term care regulations including federal, state and health regulations
  • Responsible to the Director of Nurses for the successful development and coordination of the Marketing/Admissions program
  • Has strong abilities in enforcing laws, rules & regulations, ethical integrity and interpersonal skills
  • Assist and coordinate with planning, organizing, implementing and evaluating a successful marketing and admission program and activities in order to maintain and increase our census and to provide the community with information relative to our facility, its programs, services, and practices
  • Assist in developing and maintaining written policies and procedures that govern the release of information concerning the residents, employees, and/or the facility in accordance with current Privacy Rules and Regulations
  • Assist department directors in the development, standardizing methods and use of marketing and admission policies and procedures, and establish a rapport in and between departments so that each staff member can realize the importance of his/her role in our marketing and admission programs. Review these policies and procedures at least annually and recommend changes as necessary
  • Assist in the development, implementation, and tracking of customer satisfaction surveys
  • Assist in Interpreting the facilitys policies and procedures governing the release of information to employees, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies, etc., as necessary. Ensure staff follow established policies and procedures governing the release of information
  • In conjunction/coordination with the Director of Nursing and Administrator develop and implement long range plans for the facility in its effort to establish and maintain our marketing and admissions programs
  • Support and promote the philosophy, goals and objectives of the facilitys marketing and admissions programs and activities
  • Participate and contribute in top-level meetings
  • Assume the administrative authority, responsibility and accountability of activities and programs of the marketing and admissions department
  • Maintain schedules for all marketing and admissions programs as applicable
  • Participate and assist in organizing and continuous internal communications through the use of bulletin boards, house organs, committee meetings, newsletters, brochures, public announcements, etc.
  • Assist in provide creative support for activity and social services departments in developing resident programs, publications, etc., as necessary
  • Develop, schedule and guide tours/personnel through the facility
  • Keep a supply of brochures, and other printed material readily available for persons requesting such data
  • Assist in developing/maintaining a volunteer program
  • Maintain an adequate liaison with families, residents, and community and civic leaders
  • Participate in community service and civic groups to obtain information and seek support of these groups in charitable activities on behalf of the facility
  • Supervise ongoing community service projects and develop appropriate problem-solving actions
  • Plan and implement special events that serve to advance staff, resident, and community relations
  • Coordinate special functions with all departments
  • Assist with promotions, publications, newsletter, etc., as necessary
  • Develop and maintain a current file of media contacts
  • Contact the news media when new programs, promotions, etc., are implemented within the facility that will be beneficial to the facility and community alike as directed
  • Keep the Director of Nursing and Administrator informed of newspaper radio and television accounts of noteworthy items of general interest that may have an impact on our facility and community alike
  • Make written and oral reports/recommendations to the Director of Nursing and Administrator concerning our facilitys marketing and admission programs and activities
  • Agree not to disclose assigned user ID code and password for accessing resident/facility information and promptly report suspected or know violations of such disclosure to the Chief Operating Officer and Administrator
  • Report any know or suspected unauthorized attempt to access facilitys information system
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of the facilitys admission requirements, services and programs
  • Perform position duties in a manner as to assure resident safety and rights are priority
  • Adheres to the facility corporate compliance program and promotes the program in a positive and effective manner
  • Performs other position-related duties as assigned, depending on assignment/shift setting

Other Responsibilities

  • Follows facility OSHA safety rules and procedures
  • Follows facility policies and procedures and adheres to federal and state regulations for long-term care
  • Respects cultural and religious practices of patients
  • Upholds HIPAA regulations
  • Maintains a punctual and dependable attendance record

Position Requirements

  • Bachelors degree preferred
  • LPN license in good standing
  • Prior experience preferable in Long Term Care
  • Thorough knowledge of principles of effective communication, advertising, policies, education, community relations, admissions and government relations related to nursing facility operations is preferred
  • Federal, State, and MHI required credentials current and on file
  • Cognitive skills as related to the position

Working Conditions

Because the nursing home provides round-the clock care, working hours may include days, nights, weekends and holidays. A Nurse Liaison works in a climate controlled and well-lighted environment with a smoke-free policy. Works in an office and walks throughout the building daily. Has a low risk of exposure to infectious diseases, but receives training in handwashing practices and has access to personal protective equipment if direct exposure is anticipated. Is subject to interruptions, noise, and odors daily.

Physical Demands

  • Long periods of sitting at a desk and working on computer. Prolonged periods of standing, bending, and reaching
  • Lifting and carrying continuously. The ability to lift up to twenty (20) pounds occasionally. Assistance in moving, lifting or transferring of patients may involve lifting of up to fifty (50) pounds occasionally.
  • Fine motor skills
  • Visual acuity

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach forward with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit and stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds and occasionally lift or move 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
