General Responsibilities
In this challenging role, you will be supporting the ITT- Information Technology department at Greenville Technical College. Duties may include any or all of the following.
Minimum Qualifications
A bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems or a related field and two (2) years experience in systems development and maintenance, technical support or the support of complex database management systems. Related experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year-for-year basis.
Preferred Qualifications
Skill in the development, implementation, and administration of moderately complex data management systems through effective analysis, planning, modeling, schema design, and normalization. Functional knowledge of and ability to select appropriate database models (e.g., SQL/relational, data warehouse, SQL, object, graph, Entity-attribute-value model, etc.), and database storage and connectivity architectures (client-server, distributed, cloud, file-based/embedded, etc.). Strong knowledge of and ability to perform data security and protection techniques including data classification, user/group management, access controls, authentication, authorization, accounting, logging, auditing, backup, business continuity, and disaster recovery procedures. Skill in creating and writing SQL queries, views, joins, relationships, indexes, constraints, triggers, transactions, stored procedures. Skill n performing database CRUD (Create, Read, Update, Delete) operations; and in data validation, integrity checking, escaping, quoting, and encoding. Skill in utilizing data warehouse tools for reporting, visualization, data extraction, cleaning, transformation, loading, and refreshing. Skill in the use and management of the operating system, storage, and network technologies supporting the database environment. Proficient in the use of CLI utilities and scripting for maintenance, management, and automation. Prefer familiarity with Oracle DB, but proficiency is not required. Must understand operations in Data analytics, data report writing, Excel mastery. and providing data extracts and imports for various systems. Experience and familiarity using Azure blob storage, and other Azure data tools.

General Responsibilities
In this challenging role, you will be supporting the ITT- Information Technology department at Greenville Technical College. Duties may include any or all of the following.
- Under supervision from the Applications Development Services Manager, this position assists the Senior DBA in supporting the college's database management systems.
- Review and recommend the development of data standards, documentation and security and authorization procedures.
- Serve as a key advisor to the Senior DBA and ADS Manager in defining the goals and objectives of the database management systems.
- Assist the Senior DBA with planning, organizing and managing all activities of college's database systems.
- Work closely with the Senior DBA in establishing database policies, development of standards, provides training and technical support to the application programming staff in the utilization and understanding of the database management system and services.
- Monitor and measure the performance of the database; resolve problems as they arise through analysis and assistance from the Senior DBA and appropriate vendors.
- Assist with the maintenance, security, backup and recovery policies for all database systems. Install and test database management and related systems.
- Maintain the physical descriptions of database components; develops standards, data definitions, documentation and design of security systems.
- Determine information needs and database requirements by meeting with project managers, programmers and end-users.
- Provide user training and assistance. Establish and maintain contact with vendors for software package support and problem resolution.
- Develop and maintain database views and other derivative tools that are requested and essential for campus-wide end user reporting purposes.
- Train power users, faculty and staff in the understanding and operation of reporting tools.
- Work under the supervision of the Applications Development Services Manager with relative independence to meeting assigned projects, goals and objectives.
- Work in close collaboration with the Senior Database Administrator.
- This position requires an employee who works well in a team setting and can contribute individually.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively to technical and nontechnical audiences verbally, through presentations, and through the preparation of documentation and reports.
- Ability to establish positive working relationships with others and to train and supervise staff in the design and support of database management systems.
- Some overtime may be required during installation and testing of new database software releases, software updates and/or support procedures.
- Travel may be required to attend conferences, training seminars and workshops.
