GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

In this challenging role, you will be supporting the PSF - Public Safety department at Greenville Technical College. Duties may include any or all of the following.

This is theentry-level classification for uniformed patrol work. This classification isalso used for employees performing journey-level patrol duties in theenforcement of commercial motor carrier or environmental health laws and foremployees performing journey-level and first-line supervisory duties as membersof a public safety force.

Knowledge of proper law enforcement officer behavior and role. Knowledge of modern law enforcement techniques and procedures. Knowledge of how to collect and preserve evidence. Knowledge of the legal rights of both suspects and law enforcement personnel. Knowledge of the laws one is responsible for enforcing. Knowledge of the functions and interrelationships of other law enforcement agencies. Skill in the operation of law enforcement vehicles, weapons and communications equipment. Ability to correctly evaluate situations and make good decisions. Ability to deal firmly, yet tactfully, with the general public. Ability to effectively interview witnesses and suspects. Ability to read and comprehend written materials. Ability to write clearly and effectively.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

HS diploma

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

SCCJA Certified Class I Police Officer, 2 years experience in law enforcement
