Greenville University is seeking an innovative scholar to serve as a full-time tenure-track assistant professor of Experiential

Greenville University invites applications for a full-time non-tenure track faculty position at the level of Instructor or Assistant Professor. The Experiential learning programming is to develop and equip exceptional collaborators who impact the world through transformative learning. The career focused curriculum aims to equip creative and technical problem-solvers, communicators, and collaborators.


The successful candidate will provide an experiential learning environment that is innovative and relevant. The selected candidate must provide evidence of a vibrant Christian faith, clearly understand and internalize the mission of Greenville University, and articulate the value of Christian higher education. The primary foci are teaching excellence and mission alignment. In cooperation with other faculty in the department and schools, the candidate will develop and deliver innovative courses at the undergraduate level. Additional responsibilities include development of partnerships, engagement in community and professional groups, and serving on university committees. A passion for working with undergraduate students in the Christian higher education setting is essential.


As a faculty member for the Experience Institute, you are central to Greenville University’s experiential learning initiatives and curriculum.


Reporting to the Dean of Experiential Learning, your primary responsibilities will include classroom teaching, management of experiential partnerships and coordination of the Experience Institute.


Overview of Responsibilities:

Teaching Faculty

  • Responsible to teach in the Experience First core curriculum, with faith learning integration with opportunity to teach in the appropriate discipline.
  • Participate in Experience First curriculum reviews, development and assessment.
  • Serve on faculty committees as assigned.
  • Supervise and advise students, praying for them and helping them in their academic and spiritual formation.
  • Perform University service including committee work as assigned.
  • Engage in department and campus service activities.
  • Assist with recruiting activities, as well as and student retention efforts.
  • Commit to the development and execution of experiential learning opportunities including advocating for and informing students, staff and faculty of experiential learning opportunities and initiatives.

Partnerships

  • Cultivate, track, maintain, and expand a network of experiential learning partners for the Experience First program.
  • Onboard and serve as resource for experiential learning partners.
  • Manage Experience First partner project proposals, approvals and placements.
  • Assist in student experiential projects through in-person student interviews and team placement.

Experience Institute

  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with internal stakeholders from GU’s academic units and administrative departments.
  • Identify experiential learning opportunities and programming for development.
  • Participate in proposal reviews for the Experience Learning Fund.
  • Provide organizational support related to day-to-day operations.

Requirements

Minimum Preferred Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Master’s Degree in a related field (doctorate preferred).
  • Proven organizational skills.
  • Attentive to details.
  • Proficient in data collection and analysis.
  • Possess a passion for student mentoring and trust building.
  • Demonstrate ability to advise, instruct, manage, motivate, and connect with students.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Exercises resilience and flexibility in a fluid work environment.
  • Proficient at problem-solving and focuses on solutions.
  • Productively contributes as a member of a team.
  • Successfully engages in independent work.
  • Working introductory knowledge of experiential education.

Demonstrates transferable skills related to experiential learning through work experience in:

  • HS or college level instruction in vocational or project-based curriculum.
  • Camp administration or curriculum
  • Wilderness or adventure programming administration or curriculum.
  • Student development
  • Residence Life/Long- or short-term residential programs
  • Athletic, team-based, or life coaching.
  • Customer facing business administration or sales
  • Entrepreneurship

Salary Band: $29,250-$88,000/ Annually. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions and department budget.
