Description
Serves as Financial Aid Advisor with primary responsibility to answer all incoming Financial Aid communication inquiries, work with families to collect all outstanding financial aid requirements, respond to emails sent to the Financial Aid email account. Manage all outbound communication for things like FAFSA completion, verification, PJ, etc. Collect, document and award within the regulatory guidelines of Federal State and Institutional policies for all external scholarships. Perform verifications for select group of students. Manage system tasks assigned to the position. Review all incoming documentation for regulatory compliance. Prepare documentation for annual audit. Performs other duties as requested.
Responsibilities:
- Counsel prospective students and parents concerning financial aid information and procedures.
- Assist students and their parents in understanding federal regulations when filling out the FAFSA.
- Counsel students concerning problems and special circumstances involving financial aid. Work with the Director if financial circumstances are affecting the student's retention or potential to enroll.
- Serve as liaison between the students and Student Accounts.
- Meet individually with prospective visiting families and students who request personal appointments to answer financial aid questions and concerns, review awards, costs, and payment options.
- Be familiar with all institutional grants and scholarships.
- Be knowledgeable of all computer software used for Federal, State and institutional administration of Financial Aid including but not limited to: EdConnect, FSA PartnerConnect, GAPS, PowerFaids, G5, ELM, Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook. Slate and Jenzabar EX.
- Ability to learn new system operations due to constant changes in Federal and commercial software used in financial aid.
- Work with the document imaging system.
- Work with the Director to set up worksheets, financial aid information sheets, etc. to be used in financial aid packaging.
- Assist the Financial Aid Director with the day-to-day operation of the Financial Aid Office.
- Answer the main Financial Aid phone line and assist the caller or direct the call to the proper staff member.
- Assist parents and students with FAFSA processing questions and concerns.
- Assist parents and students with rejected FAFSA submissions to resolve issues.
- Assist parents and students with completing the Verification process.
- Assist parents and students who have experienced changes in finances and family situations to complete the forms necessary for a Professional Judgement.
- Assist in the annual review of all active Financial Aid Files.
- Assists in preparing file selection for annual audit.
- Sends Federal Work Study instructions to new students, and award FWS as requested by students
. - Maintain the Church Partnership and External Scholarship Funds for all students, keep accurate records of scholarship information.
- Review daily ISIRs received for compliance issues that would change award eligibility.
- Review daily ISIRs received for Admissions decision codes, corrects discrepancies between PowerFaids & Admissions software in preparation for new student award preparation.
- Handle all forms and document requests - ensuring outstanding documents are submitted.
- Check in all types of documents submitted to complete federal/state requirements for each student.
- Assists Assistant Director in updating and maintaining PowerFaids letters, and GU Etrieve forms for documentation tracking and customer service.
- Input and retrieve student data using PowerFaids, Slate and Jenzabar systems.
- Manage all office outbound communication to students and families.
- Perform verification for select group of students.
- Assist Director in collection, preparation and review of documentation for annual audit.
- Perform all tasks assigned in the PowerFAIDS system.
- Perform other duties assigned
Requirements

- Effective communication skills, both spoken and written
- Must be able to focus on and complete tasks in an efficient manner under pressure of deadlines
- Must be comfortable with technology & learning new computer applications
- Must be comfortable using Microsoft Office software applications
- Self-motivated
- Ability to manage time well

Salary Band: $29,250-$88,000/ Annually. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions and department budget.
