Meter Field Technician I
Salary Range: $38,188.80 - $59,176.00
Anticipated Salary Range: $38,188.80 - $48,692.80
Under general supervision, collects meter reading data for residential and commercial electric, water, and natural gas meters for the purpose of billing; performs a variety of customer service duties including meter repair, maintenance, and the activating or terminating of utility services; performs responsible work in replacing, testing, repairing and calibrating electric, water, and gas meters for accuracy; performs other duties as required.
- Collects meter reading data on an assigned route with a handheld computer or mobile data collector.
- Activates and terminates utility services for scheduled field activities and delinquent accounts utilizing established procedures for each service.
- Performs various field related service duties.
- Tasks may be performed under adverse weather conditions; performs other duties as required.
- High School Diploma/GED required.
- Up to one year experience.
- Valid Driver’s License, CPR & First Aid certification; position requires performance of stand-by duty.
Meter Field Technician II
Salary Range: $40,435.20 - 62,691.20
Anticipated Salary Range: $40,435.20 - $51,563.20
Under general supervision, performs advanced level field work and office support; serves as a lead technician and trainer for a Meter Field Technician I; repairing, testing, replacing and calibrating water and gas meters for accuracy; inspection of residential and commercial electric, natural gas, and water meters; performs meter repair, maintenance and customer service duties, including activating and terminating services; record keeping and reporting; other related duties as assigned.
- Ensures all safety and field procedures are properly followed.
- Performs skilled work in activating and terminating utility services.
- Performs skilled work in the replacing, testing, repairing and calibrating of all types of water and gas meters.
- Tasks may be performed under adverse weather conditions.
- Performs related work as required.
- High School Diploma/GED required.
- Over one year experience.
- Valid Driver’s License, CPR & First Aid certification; position requires performance of stand-by duty.
This is a DOT-regulated position and is subject to random drug and alcohol testing per DOT guidelines.
