We are seeking an experienced, successful, and engaged Scale House Operator to join our team. This position is expected to work out of our site located at 2435 East Weber Avenue, Stockton, CA 95205 and limited job-related travel may be required.
Position Summary :
GreenWaste is seeking to fill the position of Scale House Operator provide support to one or more facilities. Scale operators are responsible for a range of clerical and operational duties. This includes operating the weigh scales, scale computer and software programs, data entry, cashier duties and record keeping for MRF operations to ensure accuracy. This position is also required to screen and record incoming loads at the scale house, direct vehicles entering and leaving the facility, and perform spotter duties when required to ensure safety and traffic flow.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities :
- Properly follow company and OSHA safety procedures to ensure safety.
- Ability to work with others in an efficient and respectful manner.
- Ability to follow directions, daily procedures, and protocols.
- Ability to distinguish between materials / customers and classify them accordingly.
- Ability to adapt to constant changing conditions and effectively stay focused on the tasks.
- Ensure shipping containers are coded correctly and follow all the directions stated on the bookings including the number and placement of pictures, appropriate seals, customer, number of bales, container number, booking number and hauler.
- Provide prompt and courteous service to customers.
- Ensures that trucks are properly positioned on scales for accurate weights.
- Inspect loads and drivers as required. Enter load information and customer / truck information into computer and operate computerized truck scale to determine the weight of load.
- Instruct the drivers to the appropriate tipping area (e.g., tipping floor).
- Redirect loads based upon load contents; specifically, do not accept loads containing hazardous or unauthorized waste, or other materials that are not in compliance with regulations for tipping at the facility.
- Designate proper charges for each load and generate a charge ticket on the printer.
- Accurately perform routine data entry into a computer, make accurate basic mathematical calculations and accurately post and keep legible records.
- File weight tickets for each load, record, and secure cash receipts, and maintain records of all incoming / outgoing loads that cross the scales.
- While maintaining composure, handle scale house / office telephone calls effectively and efficiently in order to provide great customer service.
- Check the information on the driver's paperwork to the information printed on the weight certificate to be certain that the information for all loads is accurate.
- Sort and process weight tickets for each day's receipts before they are turned in to the office supervisor. Complete daily scale / receipt reports; maintain logs, spreadsheets, and other reports, as assigned.
- Assist in maintaining facility site security and access control.
- Always maintains work area and equipment in a safe and clean condition. Keep the scales clean and free of debris. Perform custodial duties to clean and maintain the scale house.
- Perform the duties of Spotter, as required, and assigned to ensure safety
- Perform and assist in clerical and other duties as directed.
- Maintain all required records and reports accurately and on a timely basis.

Typical work week is Monday through Friday. Will be exposed to outdoor weather conditions. Ability to work in setting with frequent changes in equipment, start / end time, service city / town and routes based on the operational needs for the day and or week.
