Position Summary:
GreenWaste is seeking to fill the position of Utility 1 Driver to provide support to one or more facilities. This role safely operates company collection vehicles for the collection of a wide range of materials from residential and/or commercial customers.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
Fill in on Residential, Commercial, and Roll-off Routes as needed.
Work on rotating Saturdays.
Help with collection functions of Clean Up Day Program.
Safely and effectively operate collection vehicle on a designated route.
Read work orders and maps to service customers identified on work order or as assigned by Route Supervisor or Dispatch.
Accurately conduct pre and post trip inspections on collection vehicle in accordance with Company, State and Federal policies. Ensure all controls and safety equipment is in proper working condition. Notifies and reports any safety issues.
Steadily monitor the condition of the vehicle ensuring it is operationally prepared.
Provide professional and courteous services to customers daily. Contribute to the success of providing services in a timely and professional manner.
Ensure all containers serviced are empty and leave the service location free of debris and clean. Place all containers in properly designated areas.
Maintain a current and valid commercial driver’s license (Class A or B) and medical certificate.
Operate collection vehicles including mechanisms for dumping, loading, compressing, and lifting.
Inform Route Supervisor of any injuries, accidents, property damage or incidents immediately.
Identify and report all containers in need of replacement or repair.
Communicate to Route Supervisor and/or Dispatch of any service interruptions.
Complete all duties assigned by Route Supervisor or Dispatch as well as assist other drivers as directed to meet customer needs.
Perform daily cleaning and housekeeping of vehicle.
Attend all safety meetings as scheduled.
Follow all local, state and federal laws and regulations.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Ability to communicate professionally and effectively with all levels of customers as well as management.
Ability to work well with other employees in a team environment and communicate to ensure safety.
Ability to operate collection vehicles used by the company.
Ability to read, write, comprehend, and communicate in English.
Ability to read directions and notes on work orders.
Knowledge of relevant traffic laws, standard safety practices and applicable D.O.T. regulations.
Great time management skills and the ability to work well with others.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED.
Experience in commercial driving
Current and valid commercial driver’s license (Class A or B) and medical certificate/ ability to maintain acceptable records and license.
Acceptable DMV and D.O.T. record.
Complete and pass pre-employment D.O.T. drug screenings.
Great time management skills.
Language Skill:
Proficiency in English and/or Spanish
Physical Demands:
Ability to physically push, pull and lift objects ranging from 100-200 lbs.
Ability to work an 8-hour shift with possible overtime of up to 4 hours on occasion.
Constant bending and twisting. Frequent sitting and semi-frequent walking.
Constant climbing in and out of equipment to push/pull bins and/or carts.
Motor coordination requirements including leg dexterity as well as arm, hand, and finger coordination.
Specific vision abilities required, which may include but are not limited to distance, close, peripheral and color vision. As well as the ability to adjust focus and depth perception.
Work Environment:
Typical work week is Monday through Friday early mornings (with rotating Saturday work). Work setting is on average seated in a garbage truck or loader for extended periods of time. Will be exposed to outdoor weather conditions, noise, and odors/smells. Ability to work in setting with frequent changes in equipment, start/end time, service city/town and routes based on the operational needs for the day and or week. Schedules can vary, including early start times and evening start times. Overtime and weekend work are required on occasion.
Salary : $110,800 - $886,000
