What are the responsibilities and job description for the Upper School Spanish Teacher position at Greenwich Academy?
Upper School Spanish Teacher
Greenwich Academy seeks a skilled language teacher to teach in the Upper School. Above all, the school seeks an educator who loves working with high school students and who is eager to use a highly interdisciplinary approach to guide students in their modern language study. The emphasis for this position will be Spanish teaching, and Spanish-only candidates will be considered. Students at GA may also study Arabic, French, Italian, Latin, and Mandarin, and the ability to teach multiple languages is a plus. All language classes in the Upper School are conducted in the language of study. The successful candidate will be a dynamic and accessible teacher, eager to inspire and support students in the development of language proficiency in alignment with the ACTFL world readiness standards. A demonstrated commitment to teaching high school students is essential, as is an eagerness to advise and mentor them in all areas of their school lives. Through our coordinate program, all language classes include students of both Greenwich Academy and Brunswick School.
Successful candidates will be flexible, open-minded and eager to join a collaborative department. They will be excited to work in a rigorous academic environment and to immerse themselves in the school community. We expect all teachers to embrace a commitment to a variety of teaching strategies, to be enthusiastic learners themselves, and to be dedicated to sustaining a culture of anti-racism and anti-bias in our community.
