MISSION

ABOUT THE SCHOOL

GreenWood is a free public K-8 charter school focusing on holistic education. GreenWood was chartered to educate students, engage parents and connect with our community to support a culture of healthy habits for our students to grow academically. Our vision is that every GreenWood student will gain an understanding and appreciation for all aspects of their life. Student achievement includes three dimensions: Mastery of Skills and Knowledge, High-quality Work, and Character. To accomplish our vision, GreenWood uses six core HEALTH Values: Healthy Habits, Environmental Stewardship, Achievement, Leadership, Thinking Creatively and Honoring Diversity.

Greenwood partners with EL Education (formerly Expeditionary Learning), a national school organization. EL partners with schools to improve student achievement through an inquiry and project-based approach. EL schools inspire the motivation to learn, engage teachers and students in new levels of focus and effort, and transform schools into places where students and adults become leaders of their own learning.

POSITION OVERVIEW

Everything that we do at GreenWood Charter School is intended to meet the needs of our students. You must have the ability to develop meaningful connections with students, have strong classroom management skills, and have the skills to create a classroom culture in which individuals are valued for what they bring to the group. The right candidate will have a passion for deeper learning that aligns with the core principles of EL Education

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Strong communication, organization, and time-management skills
  • Flexible schedule with the ability to travel if needed
  • Initiate cultural and academic experiences for students to demonstrate a depth of understanding of state standards and testing requirements.
  • Research and create lessons that complement/supplement Expeditionary Learning Practices to meet the needs of individual students.
  • Assess student academic progress, performance, and attendance individually and weekly with teaching team.
  • Provide students and parents with regular feedback regarding student performance, progress, and academic needs, and respond to intervention.
  • Actively learn and grow as a teacher.
  • Be dedicated to the growth and success of each student.
  • Participate in all staff meetings and professional development sessions.
  • Create a classroom of high expectations consistent with the school’s mission.
  • Establish solid relationships with students’ families, opening up your classroom to parents and developing volunteer opportunities for parents and community members to contribute to our educational environment.
  • Community and parent outreach.

Job Types: Part-time, Contract

Pay: $19.00 - $23.00 per hour

Expected hours: 28 per week

Schedule:

  • 4 hour shift
  • 8 hour shift
  • Day shift
  • Monday to Friday
  • No nights
  • No weekends
