GreenWood Charter School is a public charter school dedicated to fostering a supportive and inclusive environment where students can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Part-Time School Counselor to join our team and provide essential support to our students.
Responsibilities:
- Provide individual and group counseling to support students’ emotional and social well-being.
- Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and parents to address student concerns.
- Develop and implement programs that promote positive behavior, emotional health, and conflict resolution.
- Assist students with academic challenges, goal setting, and career planning.
- Respond to crisis situations and provide appropriate interventions.
- Maintain accurate records and confidentiality in accordance with school policies and legal requirements.
- Implementing small group and individual mental health needs within the school. Working with other school staff to implement and provide services as needed, (e.g. bullying, grief, social skills, mental health needs, and divorce)
- Being part of the school’s ChAT (Child Assistance Team) to identify at-risk students and create intervention plans; and working with the behavior team to monitor the progress and success of these plans.
- Advocating for student services and students’ best interests
- Working hand in hand with our Community School Coordinators, to connect students to the services as identified by the ChAT and to monitor student progress.
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in School Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field.
- Valid Utah School Counselor Certification (or ability to obtain one).
- Experience working with children and adolescents in an educational setting preferred.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with students, parents, and staff.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Possess strong oral and written communication skills.
- Possess strong computer and educational technological skills.
- Works independently with little direct supervision.
- Works as part of a team.
- Accepts responsibility and is self-motivated.
- Display effective multi-tasking and time management skills
- Understanding of the school social worker role in the following systems:
- Multi-tiered System of Support (MTSS)
- Positive Behavior Intervention and Support (PBIS)
- Special Education (IDEA)
