Until Filled JOB DESCRIPTION FOR DIRECTOR OF OPERATIONS
The Director shall be responsible for the School Corporation's buildings, grounds, custodial, maintenance, transportation, and construction / renovation projects. The Director reports to the Superintendent.
- Recommend the employment, supervise, and evaluate all operations staff including maintenance, grounds, custodial, and transportation personnel. In addition, collaborate with principals on building-level custodial personnel;
- Inspect all school buildings, grounds, and installations on a regular basis to determine that high standards of workmanship, cleanliness, safety and security are maintained;
- In collaboration with the district chief financial officer, meet with building principals to draft 3-year building capital project plans as part of the annual budget process;
- Collect and analyze district data to improve operational efficiency and effectiveness;
- Plan or provide training to all custodians on cleaning methods, cleaning supplies, safety, and other job-related items;
- Oversee and ensure compliance for all required training, continuing education and certifications for operations staff;
- Coordinate schedules of custodians with building principals;
- Prepare and maintain a capital asset plan for all district facilities and equipment;
- Point of contact for all district facility and maintenance vendors;
- Work in conjunction with Superintendent and Chief Financial Officer to develop, recommend and supervise all major maintenance projects as well as planning for new construction projects;
- Supervise planning and coordinate all landscaping and groundskeeping activities, including all athletic fields, and preparation for athletic activities;
- Approve the purchase of buildings and grounds maintenance supplies and equipment, and normal custodial supplies ordered in quantity by the High School Building Services Supervisor. Ensure all district purchasing policies and administrative guidelines are followed;
- Supervise maintenance staff, coordinate work orders, and ensure appropriate priority of tasks;
- Serve as Indoor Air Quality coordinator;
- Review and make recommendations to administrative guidelines applicable to position areas of responsibility;
- Coordinate snow / ice removal for the entire corporation;
- Coordinate and ensure completion of all required inspections;
- Design and oversee the implementation of Hazardous Material compliance;
- Attend and report relevant updates at monthly School Board meetings;
- Oversee the implementation and maintenance of key systems for the school corporation;
- Have the ability to complete, attain, or already have CDL;
- Coordinate and oversee summer cleaning and maintenance projects.
The Director of Operations may be assigned other duties by the Superintendent.
