Position Description: Nurse Manager (Registered Nurse)

Job Summary:
The Charge Nurse is responsible for overseeing and coordinating nursing operations at Greenwood Connections under the direction of the Director of Nursing. They provide leadership, supervision, and guidance to the nursing staff, ensuring the delivery of high-quality resident care in accordance with established policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements. The Charge Nurse collaborates with the interdisciplinary team to promote a safe, comfortable, and supportive environment for residents, while fostering a positive and efficient work culture among the nursing staff.
Essential Functions:
· Provide leadership, guidance, and supervision to the nursing staff, including registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, and certified nursing assistants.
· Promote a positive work environment, ensuring open communication, collaboration, and teamwork among nursing staff members.
· Oversee the hiring, orientation, training, and performance evaluation of nursing staff.
· Ensure the provision of high-quality resident care in compliance with nursing home policies, state and federal regulations, and industry best practices.
· Coordinate and monitor the delivery of care plans, ensuring individualized resident needs are met effectively and efficiently.
· Conduct regular assessments of residents' physical, mental, and emotional well-being, and address any changes in their condition promptly.
· Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement comprehensive care plans.
· Maintain a thorough understanding of all applicable regulations, standards, and guidelines related to nursing home operations.
· Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations, including those related to resident care, documentation, medication management, infection control, and safety protocols.
· Participate in regulatory surveys, audits, and inspections, implementing necessary corrective actions and quality improvement initiatives.
· Identify the training and development needs of nursing staff, and implement educational programs to enhance their skills and knowledge.
· Foster effective communication and collaboration with the interdisciplinary team, including physicians, therapists, social workers, and administrative staff.
· Serve as a liaison between nursing staff, residents, families, and other healthcare professionals, ensuring effective communication and resolution of any concerns or issues.
· Report resident incidents per regulatory requirements, completing investigations as needed and following-up to ensure resident safety.
· Be able to apply the community’s accident, disaster, fire safety, elopement, and emergency procedures for protection of the residents.
· Be capable of performing CPR upon successful completion of CPR certification.
· Provide direct nursing care to residents when necessary and according to established policies, procedures, and standards.
· Comply with rules and regulations as set forth by Minnesota Department of Health and Centers for Medicare Services.
Certifications, Licenses, Registrations and Other Requirements:
- Active RN license in the state of Minnesota.
- Experience working in a senior living/skilled care setting.
- Excellent clinical and critical thinking skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proven leadership experience with the ability to inspire, motivate, and develop a high-performing nursing team.
- Strong knowledge of nursing practice standards, regulations, and guidelines specific to skilled nursing facilities.
- CPR Certified
- Must pass all applicable background checks and health screens as required by the Minnesota Department of Health
Physical Demands:
· The Nurse Manager must be able to lift, push, pull, and move residents as needed to provide care. The RN must be able to stand for long periods of time and be able to perform physical tasks such as bending, stooping, and reaching.
