What are the responsibilities and job description for the Personal Property / Oil and Gas Clerk position at Greenwood County Appraiser?
Responsibilities:
· Uses various means to identify and locate personal property such as mobile homes, boats, trailers, and recreational vehicles
· Communicates knowledge of state laws regarding deadlines for filing renditions, taxes, and appeals and is responsible for the notification of valuation to taxpayer by statutory deadline.
· Maintains an environment of positive public relations when handling taxpayer inquiries
· Checks returns and other documents for accuracy and completeness
· Perform data entry and maintain accurate records
· Assist with filing and cross-training in various office functions
· Provide information to the public regarding real estate and personal property
Requirements:
- Valid driver’s license
- Ability to read a tape measure accurately
- Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work well in a team
- Capable of handling high-stress situations effectively
Additional Training:
- Willingness to attend appraisal courses (may involve up to one week of travel per course)
- County covers course fees, travel expenses, and meals during training
