General Summary
A Member Service Representative is responsible for serving as a liaison between the member and the Credit Union. Overall duties include opening new accounts, resolving issues, providing account information by phone or in person, as well as information on the full range of Credit Union products and services and professionally handle the member's daily needs in accordance with established Credit Union policies, procedures, and legal and regulatory guidelines.
Essential Functions
The essential functions of this position may include, but are not limited to:
- Greet and welcome members and visitors to the Credit Union in a courteous and professional manner.
- Provide prompt, efficient and accurate service to members in the processing of transactions and general and specific service-related information concerning Credit Union services or policies.
- Assist members with opening new accounts and service existing accounts including handling requests from members for a variety of account transactions.
- Process member transaction requests; Assist members in completing relevant forms such as required for direct deposit and payroll deduction.
- Assist members in resolving problems with accounts and perform a variety of account maintenance functions efficiently, effectively, and accurately.
- Open new accounts and service existing accounts; Set up new account files, and provide members with all necessary information for membership.
- Prepare and send correspondence to members as it relates to inquiries on transactions directly affecting their accounts and process requests for copies of account information.
- Provide information on investment alternatives to members wishing to deposit funds with the credit union.
- Promptly acquire and demonstrate thorough knowledge of GCU products and services.
- Promote Credit Union products and services and assist members in enrolling in and using Credit Union e-services such as On-Line and Mobile Banking, On-Line Bill Payer and Pay-By-Phone for non-delinquent accounts.
- Actively and professionally cross sell Credit Union products and services based on member's needs.
- Perform other duties as assigned to contribute to departmental efficiency and work cooperatively with other departments to support each other in serving GCU members.

- Maintain consistent compliance with credit union policies and procedures and regulatory laws applicable to position.

- Health and Life Insurance licenses preferred or willingness to pursue.
Qualifications

- High school diploma or equivalent; Associates degree in business, finance or accounting preferred
- Minimum (1) one year of customer service experience in retail setting
- Minimum one (1) year of experience in financial services and/or bank teller operations
- Minimum two (2) years of experience in financial services industry and banking operations preferred
- Health and Life Insurance licenses preferred or willingness to pursue.
- Intermediate mathematical skills and full understanding of standard bank account transactions
- Must be fluent in English; Bilingual in Spanish or Portuguese preferred
- Thorough acquired knowledge of laws and regulations governing credit union operations as applicable to position.
- Accurate data entry and strong technical skills
- Demonstrated proficiency in basic computer applications, including Microsoft Office and internet navigation
- Exceptional interpersonal, verbal and written communication and phone skills
- Self-motivated and capable of working efficiently and with accuracy in a dynamic, high volume environment with established productivity goals
- Must be adaptable to various competing demands and meet deadlines in a fast paced environment
- Developed administrative, organizational and time management skills
- Strong critical thinking, problem solving, and reasoning skills
- Strong attention to detail with ability to audit, identify and correct procedural errors.
