GENERAL PURPOSE
Under general supervision, assists in the maintenance, repair, refurbishment, renovation, remodeling and general upkeep in order to keep the facility functional and attractive to prospective customers. Provides porter services to hotel guests and ensures their satisfaction and comfort by promptly and courteously responding to guest requests. Park and retrieve customer vehicles in specified areas in a safe and efficient manner. Provide accurate and timely documentation of vehicle checks, vehicle damage, and other conditions prior to service. Promote courteous treatment of guests and resolve guest service issues in a timely manner.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
Upon arrival, greets and assists guests by helping unload luggage from vehicle and transporting to their room, personally carrying the luggage, or using a luggage cart. Park and retrieve customer vehicles in specified areas in a safe and efficient manner.
Completes assigned work orders for general repair within assigned time frame in order to achieve the utmost operational efficiency of the hotel and its equipment.
Upon departure, assists the guest by transporting luggage from room to lobby, and helping the guest load luggage into vehicle.
Performs systematic checks and inspections to aid in the upkeep of the hotel and assists in the established proactive maintenance program in order to prevent malfunctions, breakdowns and general depreciation.
Immediately and courteously responds to guests needs in order to repair and/or resolve room maintenance requests and problems as they arise. Responds to guest needs by promptly delivering laundry, newspapers, iron & ironing board, additional linens, etc., in person. Maintains written log recording these requests and deliveries
Maintains tools, work spaces and equipment in safe, secure and good condition in order to reduce accidents and to prolong their use.
Cuts room keys on automatic key cutter, repairs and/or changes room locks for the security of hotel and guests.
Adjusts and repairs electronic problems on hotel equipment, including televisions. Communicate hotel vehicle maintenance needed to Engineering in a timely manner and follow up on completion.
Assists department in maintaining safety equipment and emergency procedures for the safety of all guests and employees.
Maintains a friendly, cheerful and courteous manner at all times. Responds to inquiries and promotes the hotels services, in person and on telephone, by explaining products/services. Provides the guest with up-to-date hotel information in order to enhance customer relations.
All other duties as assigned, requested or deemed necessary by management.
Obey all traffic and driving regulations.
Remain on scheduled route at all times.
Ensure safety of all passengers and their belongings.
Complete transportation log.
Keeps abreast of local activities and the area's establishments in order to answer questions, recommend and give directions.
Driving hotel guests to and from the airport and other assigned trips, obeying all traffic rules and regulations constantly throughout shift to ensure a safe, accident-free trip.
Assist guest with storage and retrieving their luggage from the van.
Open vehicles and hotel doors to assist guests.
Respond to guest questions, issues and problems regarding transportation, hotel services and local events, points of interest and activities.
Maintain the hotel van; gas, oil, cleanliness; filling in daily van reports and reporting any malfunctions on a daily basis.
OTHER DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
Removes snow and scoops sidewalks and driveways as weather dictates for safety of guests. Cleans lobby areas and entrances and maintains them free of debris in order to present a clean and attractive facility to customers.
Contacts, by telephone or written correspondence, electrical, plumbing and elevator contractors for repair/maintenance of hotel and its equipment.
Runs errands as needed, company vehicle, in order to drop off and pick up supplies, equipment and furnishings.
Provides assistance to other employees and departments to contribute to the best overall performance of the department and hotel.
Must be detail oriented- able to assist patrons while safely keeping track of keys/parking layout etc.

Qualifications
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge
Must have basic working knowledge in the following areas:
- general plumbing
- refrigeration
- air conditioning
- electrical systems
- boilers
- bathroom fixtures and tiling
- painting - prep to finish
- basic carpentry
- grounds keeping
Must have general knowledge of basic customer service skills and be fluent in oral and written English.
Must have knowledge of local establishments, businesses and the surrounding community in general.
Valid driver’s license.
Excellent driving record as dictated by Corporate Risk Management.
Skills
Must have vision to read written communiques, LED read-outs, meters, and computer screens, ability see objects and people at a distance.
Must have finger, hand and upper body dexterity to pull levers and rotate knobs, work with arms raised above head and to handle and assemble small parts using basic hand and power tools.
Must have upper body strength to lift 75lbs. throughout an 8 hour shift.
Must have leg strength and ability to crawl into and through small spaces, climb ladders, support and carry loads of 75lbs.
Must be able to communicate verbally and understand and follow verbal instruction.
Must be able to use tact and understanding when dealing with a variety of customer service problems.
Able to run/keep an effective pace during shift

Must be able to understand and follow verbal/written instructions, communicate both verbally and in writing, utilize analytical thought processes, understand verbal/written technical and mechanical instruction, and be highly organized.
Must have ability to communicate effectively and courteously with employees, guests and contractors in writing, via telephone and in person.

Experience
A minimum of 6 months successful experience in equal or similar position.
Material/Equipment Used
Basis hand (hammer, screwdriver, pliers) and power (electric drill, saw, solder) tools. Painting equipment, key cutting machine, grounds keeping equipment and snow removal equipment.
Exposure to hazardous materials on a daily basis.
Two- and four-wheeled luggage carts, standard office equipment.
Various vehicle transmissions.
Environment
Indoor exposure to both stable and extreme variance of hot and cold temperatures. Outside exposure to all weather elements and extreme fluctuations of temperature.
Prolonged standing, walking, bending, reaching, and heavy lifting.
