Job Description
The Civil Journeyperson is responsible for performing the daily operations of constructing and/or repairing the facility's structural woodwork and fixtures of wood, plywood, wallboard, and concrete.
Responsibilities
- Builds rough wooden structures such as concrete forms, scaffolds, and temporary frameworks according to blueprints or verbal instructions
- Builds, repairs, and installs counters, cabinets, benches, partitions, floors, doors, building framework, and trim using carpenter's hand tools and power tools and conforming to local building codes
- Reads and interprets blueprints, specifications, diagrams, or schematics to determine required material to be used
- Examines specifications to determine dimensions of structure
- Prepares layout and measures using rule, framing square, and calipers
- Utililizes hand tools and power tools
- Saws boards and plywood to required sizes
- Fabricates and installs rebar according to blueprints, specifications, diagrams, or schematics
- Pours and finishes concrete according to blueprints, specifications, diagrams, or schematics
- Paints and installs wallpaper
- Ensures all safety procedures, practices, and regulations are followed
- Participates in plant safety, health, and environmental programs
- Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Experience in all phases of civil work
- At least four years of combined training and experience
- Thorough working knowledge of blueprints to determine type of configuration and special instructions prior to installation
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Able to rely on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job with minimal direct supervision
