ANTICIPATED LEAVE REPLACEMENT PHYSICAL EDUCATION TEACHER
PRINCIPAL FUNCTION: To help students learn by imparting knowledge to them and by planning and implementing instructional practices in which students can and will learn effectively.
REPORTS TO: Building Principal, Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum, Instruction and Pupil Personnel Services
SUPERVISES: Classroom support staff
JOB GOAL: Guide students toward gaining knowledge and skills, pursuant to the District, NYS and Federally established learning objectives, in order to become productive citizens.
PROFESSIONAL PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Plan, create, organize and execute physical education lessons that challenge and promote learning among students and are directly aligned to the NYS Physical Education Standards.
- Adjust curricula to adapt to meet the needs of a variety of physical abilities to create a positive experience for all students.
- Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity, interest and abilities of students.
- Guide the learning process toward the achievement of established district curriculum goals.
- Establish and communicate clear objectives to the students for all lessons, units and projects that are directly aligned to the NYS Physical Education Standards.
- Employ a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media, consistent with the physical limitations of the location provided and the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved.
- Assess the accomplishments of students on a regular basis, provide progress reports as required, and communicate with parents as deemed necessary.
- Maintain accurate, complete and correct records as required by Federal and State law, district policy and administrative regulations.
- Adhere to all Board Policies and Regulations.
- Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities.
- Align classroom practices and student behavioral expectations with the District code of conduct and with established administrative policies. Develop rules of classroom behavior, which are enforced in a fair and just manner.
- Make provisions for being available to students and parents by appointment for educationally-related purposes.
- Maintain valid certification as required by NYS Department of Education and Commissioner's Regulations.
- Attend established traditional school-sponsored activities (i.e., back-to-school night, parent-teacher conferences, open house, programs, activities) agreed upon by the building administrator and the faculty.
Job Qualifications
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Estimated Dates - May 5, 2025 - June 26, 2025; salary, work days as established by the Board
CERTIFICATION/CLASSIFICATION/QUALIFICATION:
- NYS Physical Education K-12 Certification and NYS Health Certification as required by NYS Commissioner of Education Regulations.
- Specific coursework in Adaptive P.E. is preferred.
LOCATIONS WHERE WORK MAY BE PERFORMED: On-site or remotely as determined by the Superintendent.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Examples: Able to lift 25lbs, able to assist and safely supervise students, able to perform essential functions as described above.
