JOB TITLE:              Facility Services Worker - Day Porter

SUPERVISOR:        Facilities Manager

 

SALARY RANGE:                                 $18.10 - $26.45 per hour   

ANTICIPATED HIRING RANGE:       $18.10 - $22.28     Commensurate to experience. 

This is a nonexempt/hourly position

SCHEDULE/REMOTE/HYBRID:  This position may involve working a variety of schedules, including evenings.  A typical schedule is Monday-Friday, 12:00pm - 9:00pm. Flexible scheduling may be discussed upon hire and supervisor approval.

 

RELOCATION:  This position is located in Greenwood Village, Colorado. Relocation assistance is not provided. 

 

REQUIREMENTS: One year of experience in facility maintenance as a Day Porter, or experience cleaning and maintaining Commercial buildings. High School Diploma or GED required

The City of Greenwood Village welcomes your application for the Facility Services Worker in our Community Development Department. The purpose of this position is to perform semi-skilled and skilled labor involved in cleaning and maintaining City buildings and facilities; including handling routine cleaning tasks and ensuring common areas are tidy and presentable

As a municipal organization, Greenwood Village is a provider of emergency services. Some emergency situations, including weather-related emergencies, may necessitate Greenwood Village employees to assist in areas of work that may not be directly related to the employee’s specific job function, but which will be within the physical capabilities, training, and skills of the employee.

Essential Functions:

A. Key Duties

  • Cleaning and Maintenance: Sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and polishing floors, windows, and fixtures
  • Trash Removal: Emptying trash cans and recycling bins.
  • Restocking: Refilling restrooms, and cleaning and sanitizing sinks, counters, urinals, and toilets.
  • General Organization: Maintaining a tidy and organized environment in common areas, including lobbies, hallways, and restrooms.
  • Communication: Reporting maintenance issues to the appropriate staff.
    Safety: Ensuring the safety of the building and its occupants by removing debris, hazards, and cleaning up spills.
  • Equipment Operation: Using cleaning equipment such as vacuums, brooms, mops, and other tools.
  • Other duties as needed

B. Additional Responsibilities

  • Assisting with events: Setting up and cleaning up after events or meetings.
  • Maintaining grounds: Sweeping or maintaining parking areas as needed.
  • Assisting other staff: Assisting maintenance staff, engineers, or vendors as needed.
  • Following safety procedures: Adhering to all safety regulations and procedures.
  • Maintains equipment such as vacuum cleaners and buffers.

C. Stock Supplies 

  • Keeps all rest rooms supplied with items such as tissues, paper towels, and soap, stocks offices with tissues.
  • Stocks own supplies when they come in and help others stock their supplies and equipment.

D. Security and Conservation

  • Ensures the security of the building

E. Snow and Ice Control

  • Remove snow and ice from City’s facilities

    F. Miscellaneous Duties

    • Assists in special projects, including set up and take down for special events; building construction; participating in annual clean‑up programs.
    • Cleans and maintains storerooms and cleaning equipment.
    • Maintains inventory of supplies; replenishes supplies when necessary.
    • Works collaboratively with the cleaning service vendor
    • Sets up facilities for meetings and parties; moves furniture.
    • Performs related duties and responsibilities as required.

     

    Position requirements:

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

    • Basic methods and materials used in minor maintenance and cleaning activities.
    • Equipment and tools used in the maintenance of buildings.
    • Occupational hazards and standard safety practices.
    • Blood borne pathogens.
    • Safe work practices.
    • Use and operate a variety of maintenance equipment, which includes various hand tools, in a safe and effective manner.
    • Perform heavy manual labor requiring a full range of physical motion including standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting of objects weighing up to 75 pounds, twisting and turning, bending, stopping, kneeling, crouching, climbing, balancing, crawling, reaching for objects with hands and arms, and using hands to finger and control objects.
    • Learn to interpret, explain, and enforce maintenance policies and procedures.
    • Work independently in the absence of supervision.
    • Understand and follow oral and written instructions.
    • Interpret written instructions and warning labels on cleaning chemicals.
    • Perform a variety of manual tasks for extended periods of time.
    • Perform manual labor including heavy lifting.

     

    Experience and Training:

    • Experience: One year of experience in facility maintenance as a Day Porter, or experience cleaning and maintaining Commercial buildings. High School Diploma or GED required
    • Training: Equivalent to the achievement of a High School Diploma or G.E.D.

     

    Licenses or Certificates:

    Possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate, valid Colorado driver's license and a driving record satisfactory to obtain coverage by the City's insurance carrier. Possession of, or ability to obtain, CCIC/NCIC Certification through the Colorado Bureau of Investigation within 6 months of hire.

    Equipment Utilized:

    Floor buffer, vacuum, basic hand tools, cleaning supplies and chemicals, backpack vacuum, motor vehicle.

     

    Contact with Others:

    Primary internal contact is with own or other maintenance crews for purposes of completing assignments. Primary external contacts are with equipment or material suppliers. 

     

    Supervisory Requirements:

    Receives general supervision from the Facilities Manager. 

     

    Field Work:

    Job frequently requires physical effort requiring lifting of objects weighing up to 75 pounds and use of cleansers/chemicals in accordance with Safety Data Sheets (SDS). Perform a variety of manual tasks for extended periods of time.
