What are the responsibilities and job description for the Early Childhood - Teacher Assistant/Aide position at Greer First Preschool?
This position is for the upcoming 2025-2026 school year.
The Teacher Assistant supports the Teachers by helping to create a caring and safe environment for the children and assisting in activities to improve the overall care and quality of education. They must be able to communicate, listen and work well with others in a team environment. Assisting the staff in implementing a quality educational program and in developing positive relationships with the children and their parents. The Teacher Assistants are responsible for implementing developmentally appropriate activities based on children?s interests and needs under the direction of the Teacher and the Director.
Duties
� Attend professional meetings and complete the required 15 hours of training per year.
� Supervise preschoolers in classrooms, halls, playgrounds and gym.
� Assist preschoolers individually or in small groups to help them master assignments and to reinforce learning concepts presented by teachers.
� Support children?s emotional and social development, encouraging understanding of others and positive self-concepts through classroom instruction and activities.
� Assimilate arriving children to the school environment by greeting them, helping them remove outerwear, and placing items in designated area and/or cubby.
� Assist instruction to children in health and personal habits, such as eating, resting, and toilet habits.
� Instruct and monitor preschoolers in the use and care of classroom materials and equipment.
� Discipline children in a positive Christ-like way and in keeping with our policies.
� Recommend or initiate other measures to guide behavior such as social interaction and caring for own clothing and picking up toys and books.
� Be able to fill in for the Lead Teacher if they are absent or out of the room.
� Abide and follow all DSS/DHEC policies and guidelines.
� Abide and follow all Greer First Baptist and Greer First Preschool policies and guidelines.
� Maintain positive attitude.
� Treat all children with kindness and speak in a kind tone.
� Maintain a safe play environment.
� Sanitize toys and play equipment.
� Organize and store toys and materials to ensure order in activity areas.
� Assist Lead Teacher to engage children in activities that promote intellectual development as well emotional and physical development.
� Assist Lead Teacher to incorporate biblical foundations into educational, emotional, and physical activities throughout each day.
� Observe and monitor children?s play activities.
� Discuss assigned duties with classroom Lead Teacher to coordinate instructional efforts.
� Assist the Lead Teacher to communicate with children?s parents or guardians about daily activities, behaviors, and related issues, supporting and submitting to the Lead Teacher?s recommendations in all areas of communication.
� Assist Lead Teacher to engage children in activities that promote intellectual development as well emotional and physical development.

Requirements
- Professional child care experience.
- High energy.
- Ability to work well with others.
- Strong oral and written communication skills and basic computer skills.
- An understanding of child development.
- Excellent leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Infant/child CPR and First Aid certification.
- Must clear full background check and must pass health screening.
- Complete 15 hours of training classes each year.

Benefits
Hours for staff are 8:00 AM- 1:30 PM, Monday - Friday.
We follow the Greenville County School District's calendar so we are off any day that they are off. We are closed during the summer.
There are 9 paid holidays during our school year and 5 paid vacation days.

Greer First Baptist Church has offered a Christ-centered preschool for over 40 years. We are thankful for the opportunity to build on this legacy, opening our newly renovated facilities in September 2021.
