Duties
- Perform skilled maintenance, installations, and repairs in building construction and mechanical trades, including plumbing, painting, carpentry, heating, electrical, masonry, metal work, roofing, flooring, HVAC, and welding.
- Conduct repairs and maintenance on commercial electrical systems, airfield lighting, security gates, fences, and airport pavement.
- Apply finishes to surfaces such as wood, metal, glass, plaster, and cement, and apply non-restricted pesticides/herbicides in compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Operate and maintain hand tools and heavy equipment such as backhoes, tractors, mowers, drills, saws, generators, dump trucks, man lifts, etc.
- Assist with lifting, stacking, and moving heavy materials and equipment, ensuring work sites and shop areas are safe, clean, and orderly.
- Read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, and written instructions to perform precise measurements and calculations.
- Monitor and assist with contracted airport maintenance programs, using as-built construction drawings and maintenance manuals.
- Respond to routine maintenance requests, on-call service requests, and emergency situations, providing regular updates to supervisors.
- Maintain inventory of tools, equipment, and supplies, ensuring safety and security in the shop area.
- Perform radio communications with Air Traffic Control (ATC) and adhere to airport ground control procedures.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and building codes, and demonstrate regular, reliable attendance, including availability for various shifts, weekends, holidays, and overtime as necessary.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- At least two years of airport maintenance experience (preferred).
- At least two years of experience in commercial building maintenance, with expertise in electrical systems.
- Strong knowledge of facilities maintenance, electrical and lighting systems, utilities, equipment repair, heavy equipment operation and maintenance, HVAC, and FAR Part 139 Airport Regulations and Part 1542 Security Standards.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints, as-built construction drawings, diagrams, and specifications.
- Skilled in operating and maintaining various motorized equipment, tools, and heavy machinery, with dexterity for handling tool.
- Ability to perform accurate measurements, arithmetic calculations, and handle routine maintenance requests.
- Effective oral and written communication skills and strong interpersonal abilities to foster productive working relationships. (Bilingual Proficiency Preferred)
- Competence in using computers for training and technical applications, with the ability to exercise independent judgment and initiative.
- Knowledge of proper lifting techniques, shop mechanics, and basic landscaping practices.
- Physical ability to perform tasks such as bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, standing, walking, climbing ladders, and working from heights.
- Commitment to maintaining a safe, clean, and organized work environment.
- Strong ability to work independently or within a team, consistently meeting objectives and deadlines. Demonstrates excellent self-motivation, problem-solving skills, adaptability, and efficient task management with minimal supervision.

Pay: $18.89 - $20.67 per hour
