What are the responsibilities and job description for the Bar Manager position at Gregg's Restaurants and Taverns?
Position Summary: Primary function of a bar manager is to maintain control of liquor and liquor sales to maintain correct costs at our bar areas.
Functions and specific duties:
1. Liquor and Liquor control
a. Implement correct liquor portions and recipes for all bar and supervising staff.
b. Communicates with management regarding invoice errors, verify corrections, and product availability.
2. Computer/Cash
a. Ensure that all drinks are served are being rung thru register
b. Ensure that all drinks served are being sent through under correct recipes
c. Checking shortage/overage of bar cash drawers and correct problems as they occur
3. Pub/Bar cleanliness
a. Maintain and implement daily, weekly and monthly cleaning schedules and ensure that that they are being followed as needed
b. Maintain liquor room organizations as needed
c. Maintain the appearance of Taverns and bar staff in compliance with the uniform code as stated in the employee handbook
d. Maintain and implement correct bar service in compliance with RI health Dept. regulations i.e scoops in ice, cleanliness of Island Oasis machine, tongs in garnish tray etc.
4. Schedules
a. Post schedules for all pub departments in designated area no later than Thursday of each week.
b. Ensure all staff is on time and ready to work as needed.
c. Addressing any and all overtime issues with GM and AGM
5. Maintenance
a. Inform management in a timely manner regarding Tavern and Bar equipment in need of repair
b. Ensure that all lights are in proper working order on a daily basis( this includes decorative lighting over and around bar area)
c. Ensure all bar refrigeration is working and maintaining Beer temperature of 36-38 degrees.
6. Sales Promotion
a. Implement and direct daily, weekly and or monthly sales promotions
b. Participate in the promoting and tracking of wine sales.
7. Alcohol Awareness
a. Ensure that all liquor regulations are being carried out in a professional manner in compliance with RI law i.e carding, over serving, handling intoxicated guests
b. Ensure that all tavern/bar staff members are certified in an alcohol awareness program within 60 days employments
Experience: Strong liquor knowledge, strong math, computer and cash handling skills
Physical: Must have the ability to stand for long periods of time ( up to 8.5 hours in length) Must be able to reach, bend stoop, push, pull and lift up to 50 lbs.
