Construction Lead Painter

One of the top performing, Commercial General Contractors, based out of New York, Gregor Industries, is seeking a talented,

Construction Lead Painter to join our Team of Professionals. The lead painter will ensure that work is done to quality standards and that proper safety equipment is used.

Job Description:

• Preparing the surrounding area, including covering fixtures and furniture to prevent messes
• Required to lead/manage a team of painters
• Create processes and procedures
• Be client facing
• Interview potential painters
• Preparing painting surfaces, including removing old paint, filling holes and cracks and washing walls
• Choosing the tools to complete the job
• Mixing and matching paints and colours to meet the texture and look required for the project
• Applying paint, varnishing and other finishes, hanging wallpapers and other decorative products
• Cleaning up painting tools and supplies, replacing fixtures and rearranging furniture after completing the project
• Collaborating with painters on other larger jobs
  
• Prepare surfaces by cleaning, sanding, and filling cracks or holes.
• Select and mix paints to match colors and achieve desired finishes.
• Apply paints, varnishes, and coating using brushes, rollers, or spray equipment.
• Follow safety guidelines and use proper protective equipment during all tasks.
• Collaborate with construction professionals to coordinate painting schedules.
• Maintain and clean painting tools and equipment.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Certification in painting or relevant field is a plus.
• Demonstrated proficiency in using painting tools and equipment.
• A valid driver's license
• Have your own reliable vehicle
• Must be diligent, savvy, and to be able to handle multiple tasks and work independently.
• Must be able to work nights and weekends.
• Must be able to work in NYC, NJ.
• Ideal candidates have excellent communication skills, a passion for safety and quality and a strong drive to apply these traits to any given project. They also will be proficient in reading and writing emails and reports.
• A clean and presentable appearance is mandatory and must be flexible with hours and working nights and weekends.
• Keep clean, safe and organized.
• Maintain a clean driving record and abide by all transportation laws.
• Be mindful of parking work vehicles when on the job site to avoid penalties.
  

Requirements include:

• Proven experience as a construction painter in commercial projects.
• In- depth knowledge of painting materials, techniques, and color matching.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and projects specifications.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering high quality work.
• Excellent time management skills to meet project deadlines.
• Effective communication and collaboration skills within a construction team. 

Knowledge of safety protocols and willingness to adhere to safety guidelines
