Position Overview: The Estimator will be responsible for leading the estimation process, managing junior estimators, and overseeing the preparation of accurate, detailed project estimates. The role includes budget preparation, cost analysis, and vendor management to ensure that all aspects of the project’s financials are managed effectively. This position requires strong leadership skills, the ability to manage multiple projects, and a deep understanding of the construction industry’s financial requirements.
What You'll Do:
Manage and mentor junior estimators, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in their tasks.
Review project requirements, blueprints, and specifications to understand scope and costs.
Develop accurate budget estimates by analyzing plans, specifications, and market conditions.
Identify and evaluate cost factors such as materials, labor, subcontractors, and unforeseen expenses.
Prepare detailed cost breakdowns with material take-offs, labor, and time estimates.
Build and maintain relationships with vendors and subcontractors to secure competitive bids.
Oversee bid collection and evaluation, creating accurate cost analyses for projects.
Develop and manage Gantt-style schedules in Microsoft Project, aligning timelines with goals.
Present clear project budgets, cost reports, and financial forecasts to stakeholders.
Ensure timely submission of bids and proposals by updating the bid calendar.
Monitor project costs, track budget variances, and gather data for future estimates.
What You’ll Need:
3 to 5 years of Estimator experience in commercial construction, preferably in a general contracting environment.
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field preferred; relevant certifications a plus.
Proficient in Microsoft Project, Excel, and construction management software; familiar with Gantt chart scheduling and cost tracking.
Strong knowledge of commercial construction processes, including budgeting, material take-offs, subcontractor pricing, and cost control.
Proven leadership skills, mentoring junior team members on complex estimates and projects.
Excellent communication skills for presenting cost reports and financial forecasts to management and clients.
High attention to detail and strong organizational skills for accurate estimates.
Experienced in managing relationships with vendors, subcontractors, and stakeholders for cost-effective, high-quality work.
Ability to prioritize multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Estimating certifications (e.g., AACE) or other relevant qualifications are a plus.
Pay Range
