Job Purpose The Data Specialist is responsible for organizing, filing, and maintaining documentation on client specific data and deliverable needs for the Financial and Data Analytics Team. The Data Specialist will compile data and complete reporting for the management of self-funded medical, dental, and vision plans for use by consultants, account managers and clients. The Data Specialist will also assist the financial analysts by gathering data for additional projects such as projections and plan changes. The Data Specialist works collaboratively with key members of the organization on special projects including but not limited to maintenance of the data warehouse, contribution modeling, client research within the data warehouse and other duties as assigned. Primary Duties • Compute and analyze data, using statistical formulas and computers or calculators. • Check source data to verify completeness and accuracy. • Enter data into computers for use in analyses or reports. • Compile reports, charts, or graphs that describe and interpret findings of analyses. • File data and related information and maintain and update databases. • Complete client specific financial deliverables using data from multiple sources. • Assist Financial Analyst and Consultants in performing cost projections by compiling client specific data from multiple sources. • Manage initial stages of deliverables by logging requests and organizing data needs. • Maintain documentation on what client specific data is necessary to complete deliverables. • Collaborate with Learning & Development Specialist to create and maintain training documents on how to access and use websites containing information needed to complete deliverables. • Prioritize work based upon internal workflows, internal due dates, and external (client) due dates. • Other duties as assigned
Required Experience:
Years of Experience: • 1 years of experience Education: • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent of combined education and experience Additional Information: • Requires the ability to read, interpret and comprehend data needed to report on self-funded plans. • Life and Health Insurance license is preferred or achieved within 90 days of employment. License must be renewed every two years or as frequently as required with Indiana Department of Insurance. • Preferred knowledge of database applications. • Knowledge of employee benefits is preferred. • Must be able to work independently and in a cross-functional workgroup to achieve results. • Must be able to effectively communicate with internal and external customers in a verbal Desktop Computer Skills: • Databases: o Using a computer application to manage large amounts of information, including creating and editing simple databases, inputting data, retrieving specific records, and creating reports to communicate the information. o Working with pictures in graphics programs or other applications, including creating simple graphics, manipulating the appearance, and inserting graphics into other programs. • Internet: o Using a computer application to create, manipulate, edit, and show virtual slide presentations. • Spreadsheets: o Using a computer application to enter, manipulate, and format text and numerical data; insert, delete, and manipulate cells, rows, and columns; and create and save worksheets, charts, and graphs. and written format and the ability to present information to clients, when needed.
