PURPOSE
Role and Responsibilities
Technical and Operational
- Follow instructions and guidance provided by the Lead Field Service Technician.
- Assist with loading and unloading tools and materials at job sites.
- Ensure all excess material/debris is removed and tools are properly gathered and stored.
- Help maintain the cleanliness and organization of the company vehicle.
- Oversee the pre-installation process and installation of residential generator systems, electric vehicle chargers and all other products in the GRESCO portfolio. This includes all components and infrastructure required for the installation of these units.
- Ensure systems and components meet quality standards through rigorous testing and maintenance.
- Ensure all generators meet manufacturer warranty requirements.
Customer and Sales Support
- Provide technical support to customers, address queries and troubleshooting issues.
- Assist the sales team with demonstrations and training and communicate effectively regarding service contracts and terms.
Compliance and Safety
- Adhere to all safety guidelines and legal regulations.
- Ensure all activities comply with company policies.
- Understand NESC (National Electrical Safety Codes).
- Ability to effectively complete JSA documentation for every job.
- Use PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) and follow lock-out/tag-out procedures.
Professional Development
- Attend training sessions and classes to enhance professional knowledge and technical skills.
- Stay updated with industry trends and technological advancements.
Reporting and Documentation
- Maintain detailed engineering logs and complete reports timely.
- Ensure the documentation of all operational activities and customer interactions.
NATURE AND SCOPE
The Field Service Technician is responsible for the installation, warranty and maintenance of residential standby generators and electric vehicle chargers for GRESCO. This role ensures high-quality service delivery through maintaining strong customer relationships, representing the company with utmost professionalism, integrity, and exemplary conduct at all times, embodying the highest standards of grace and excellence in every interaction, and engaging and adhering to all safety regulations.
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE
EDUCATION/KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE
REQUIRED (minimum required job-related knowledge)
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Exceptional communication skills, ability to work independently with minimal supervision, and strong problem-solving abilities.
PREFERRED
- 1-3 years of experience in the power generation/electrician field, specifically with experience in home standby generators and/or electric vehicle chargers.
- In-depth knowledge of generator technology and electric vehicle charging systems. Proficient in servicing major brands.
- Experience with basic wiring and electrical systems.
- Experience working with electric co-operatives, municipalities, and IOUs.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- This position will be located within 40 miles surrounding Adel, Georgia.
Office Environment
- Limited office work is necessary, with tasks such as emails, expense reporting, and time tracking to be completed at the Adel office.
Field Environment
- 40% to 50% travel with potential for overnight stays to various field locations, including Gresco office sites and customer premises. The nature of fieldwork requires the technician to be physically active.
- The position may require flexible hours, including some weekends and public holidays, depending on project demands and emergency service requirements.
- Tasks may include walking, standing, regularly climbing ladders, and operating heavy equipment or tools. A significant amount of work will be conducted outdoors, where conditions can vary. Technicians will often work in hot conditions and must be prepared to handle weather-related challenges. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds (more with assistance) at times.
- The role involves working with potentially dangerous electrical equipment. Strict adherence to safety protocols and regulations is mandatory to prevent injuries. Protective gear and safety training will be provided to ensure the technician's safety and well-being.
- The technician must be adaptable, able to switch between quiet office work and the physically demanding, sometimes noisy environments of fieldwork.
- The health and safety of our employees is paramount. Regular training on safety practices, emergency response, and proper handling of equipment will be conducted to maintain a safe working environment.
