POSITION SUMMARY : The Custodian maintains an attractive, sanitary and safe facility by performing a wide variety of cleaning and maintenance functions in both the facility and grounds around the facility; providing adequate arrangements for meetings, classroom activities and events; and minimizing property damage, loss and liability exposure.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

- Experience Required : Prior job-related experience school or institutional setting

Performs general cleaning and overall maintenance of school facilities (i.e. classrooms, offices, multipurpose rooms, grounds, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining a sanitary, safe and attractive environmentFollows a cleaning schedule within an area of responsibility developed by appropriate personnelArranges furnishings and equipment to prepare spaces for internal and community group activities and eventsEnsures energy conservation practices are in useIdentify and report any unsafe and damaged school building conditions to appropriate personnelInforms students, other site personnel, and supervisor for the purpose of providing information regarding activities, safety and / or proper maintenance of facilitiesOperates all equipment (e.g. lifts and ladders) in a safe mannerPerforms minor repairs to structures and maintains equipmentMaintains a custodial communication systemSecures facilities and grounds for the purpose of minimizing property damage, loss and liability and ensuring safety at work siteEvaluates situations to take appropriate action and / or direct the situation to the appropriate personnel for resolutionDelivers variety of items (i.e. supplies, mail, packages, furniture, etc.) for the purpose of distributing the materials to the appropriate partiesSupports the relationship between the school and the general public by demonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with parents, community members, and other school visitors.OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS :
