Founded in 1997, Gresham Partners, LLC is a $10 billion Chicago-based investment and wealth management firm serving a select group of ultra-high-net-worth families across the country as a multi-family office. The firm is known for its independent thinking, investment approach, and performance results. We are seeking an experienced trusts and estates attorney with background in sophisticated planning for ultra-high net worth clients for a senior wealth strategist position. This role will work closely with and report directly to the Chief Wealth Strategist.
Responsibilities :
- Preparation of client wealth transfer planning meeting materials, including detailed and comprehensive concrete recommendations regarding titling, plan updates, and wealth planning strategies that ensure the alignment of the client’s financial goals with consideration of all the client’s assets.
- Lead client meetings on relevant topics, take the lead on completing client wealth transfer planning projects, and participate in prospect meetings and creation of materials.
- Assist with meticulous review, analysis, and preparing detailed summaries of client estate planning instruments (including powers of attorney, wills, all kinds of trusts, family co-investment vehicles, philanthropic entities and other related documents).
- Review estate and gift tax returns to determine available transfer tax exemptions; and prepare detailed excel spreadsheets that analyze the flow of assets within the plan.
- Work on the creation and desired updates for client Wealth Planning Policy Statements, Letters of Wishes and other supporting side documents relating to a client's estate planning goals.
- Work directly with clients' estate planning counsel to communicate client goals and review draft documents for comments.
- Assist with the onboarding process and coordination of trusts being administered by a corporate trustee; facilitate communications and support trustees on trust administration matters; and assist the advisory team with the estate administration process as needed.
- Public speaking engagements, including thought leadership, research and writing for outlines, PowerPoints, and other educational materials relating to T&E and wealth management issues.
- Represent the firm at a wide range of professional activities, including attending industry events, continuing education programs, etc.
- Field estate planning questions from other members of the Client Service team. As necessary, independently research answers and engage in analysis.
