Greys Fine Cheeses is the only specialty retail cheese shop in Memphis with locations in Nashville and Franklin. We know cheese! We are family-owned offering the finest artisanal cheeses, charcuterie, accoutrements and wine to our turophiles (cheese lovers).
We have an Assistant Store Manager position open at our Memphis location. This is a part-time position working Tuesday - Saturday from 10:30 am - 3:30 pm.
We are a small team, looking for someone who is comfortable working in a small team with a willingness to learn and be a team player. Someone who enjoys working for a local business.
In this role, you will keep our store and our staff “organized” as you manage key daily operations.
DINING ROOM SERVICE:
- Assist owners in overseeing the day to day operation of cheese shop
- Maintain staff schedule. Schedule labor ensuring all positions are staffed when staff is off or sick. Ensure all shifts are covered.
- Identify and manage all aspects pertinent to providing guests with the atmosphere standard set owners upon opening (lighting, music, volume, appearance, cleanliness)
- Conduct pre-shift meetings keeping staff informed about developments
- Assist in coordinating staff training classes (cheese and wine trainings) Demonstrate commitment to making all the current staff and management better.
- Ensure continuous improvement in quality of service, operational effectiveness, and employee retention and satisfaction.
- Support FOH team in all aspects of service – assign staff to stations
- Gather customer feedback and recommend remedy/corrective actions.
GENERAL OPERATIONS – LABOR, SOFTWARE, MAINTENANCE
- Responsible for verifying daily time clock entries and making corrections as necessary in system
- Distribute daily cash tips between staff.
- Conduct staff interviews and make recommendations for observations and hiring.
- Ensure all HR paperwork is complete and all on-boarding documents are complete and submitted for payroll.
- Ensure all annual business licenses are renewed in a timely manner
- Oversee and ensure FOH and BOH are keeping adequate stock levels of their items.
- Order and re-stock all restaurant supplies.
- Order retail items and merchandise shelves.
- Order supplies for restaurant
- Check restaurant office voicemail and correspond as necessary.
- Understand all systems in the restaurant and ensure that each is in working order. Restaurant POS, Emergency Contacts for use in the event of an emergency in a manner that any management team member could access the necessary information.
- Post weekly schedule of events and staff schedule
- Coordinate any meetings regarding repairs and maintenance
- Use metrics from weekly sales report to suggest promotions to push sales of slow movers.
ACCOUNTING:
- Organize and maintain invoices for proper record keeping
- Ensure invoices are correct versus products ordered/received. Work with vendor issuing credits if shorted items.
- Complete monthly credit card report.
- Prepare deposit for bank personnel
About You
- Minimum of 1-2 years of restaurant manager experience restaurant supervisor /shift leader experience
- Have a passion for cheese with desire to continue to learn (no prior cheese experience required)
- Customer service attitude.
- Excellent organizational skills
- Communication, organization and team management skills.
- Fluency in Excel, preferred
- Prior experience with POS systems, preferred
- Must be of legal age under TN state regulations to serve alcohol and have a valid TN ABC Certificate.
- Eligible to work in the United States
