We are seeking an underwriter in our Bridge Lending Group. The Greystone Bridge Lending Group is responsible for all balance-sheet lending activity at the firm, including Bridge and Mezzanine lending. The portfolio typically consists of $1-3 billion in loans at a given time, principally focused on transitional financing provided with a view towards exit via permanent financing provided by Greystone via its Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, and FHA lending programs.

The team is seeking an aggressive self-starter, with highly advanced Excel and web-based application skills, with three or more years of either bridge loan underwriting or Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac multifamily underwriting experience who can author and present credit presentations that include the detailed financial, market, underwriting & risk analysis of multifamily loans throughout the U.S.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced underwriter to demonstrate their experience and knowledge of multifamily mortgage underwriting, to have extensive contact with our clients, and affords the opportunity to work closely with our senior credit team and originators on the underwriting, approval, and closing of bridge loan transactions.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities: 

• Analyze, interpret, and underwrite complex multifamily real estate transactions in compliance with respective agency guidelines
• Conduct detailed economic and demographic research to determine the feasibility of specific transactions
• Prepare and present a comprehensive loan approval package to a credit committee
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with origination and closing departments as well as external agency investors
• Conduct comprehensive inspections of physical real-estate assets on an as-needed basis

Experience, Skills, and Abilities Required: 

• Highly developed analytical, research, and written/oral presentation skills
• Ability to problem-solve and exercise independent judgment while displaying a high degree of initiative and accuracy
• Demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize projects; complete multiple tasks on schedule
• Ability to work productively under minimal supervision
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially in Excel and Word, as well as web-based applications
• Strong work ethic and ability to be a team player
• Proactive team player, able to work effectively under sometimes stressful conditions
• 3 years of either Bridge Loan, Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac, or FHA loan product underwriting experience
• Able to travel to conduct property inspections
