GRI is seeking a Senior to Associate level Geotechnical Engineer, Geological Engineer, or Engineering Geologist with 10 years of experience in landslide and rockfall evaluations. A qualified applicant should have demonstrated successful experience on evaluation and design of landslide and rockfall mitigation projects, including the use of numerical modeling as appropriate. We want this position to be filled by a motivated and thoughtful leader who has a strong interest and skill in providing technical leadership for large, civil works.

GRI is an employee-owned, full-service geotechnical, pavement, geological, and environmental engineering consulting firm based in the Portland, Oregon area. General responsibilities include:

  • Performing geotechnical engineering for major civil works, including earthquake engineering, deep and shallow foundation support, retaining structures, earth embankments, levees/dams, waterfront and marine structures, landslides/slope stability, and ground improvement with a focus on public sector work.
  • Senior technical review and project management for engineering, deliverables, schedule, and invoices.
  • Management and mentoring of junior geotechnical engineering staff.
  • Report writing and review.
  • Oversight of and direction for laboratory testing of soil and rock.
  • Developing scopes of work and budget estimates.
  • Helping manage geotechnical construction observation.
  • Business development and marketing efforts focused on transportation, water & environment, energy and federal market sectors.

Required Skills / Abilities:

  • Be a team-oriented professional with high degree of self-motivation and drive who likes to work with, and help, others.
  • Actively utilize critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Have a demonstrable record of advanced technical report writing skill and ability.
  • Possess a proven business development acumen.

Position Requirements:

  • Master's Degree in Geotechnical or Geological Engineering.
  • At least 10 years of full-time consulting experience.
  • Professional Engineering and/or Certified Engineering Geologist license in Oregon, Washington, or California (or ability to obtain licensure).
  • Valid driver's license.

Physical Requirements

  • Use computers, tablets, and mobile devices.
  • Perform physical tasks on project sites that may include walking, climbing, crawling, or standing for long periods of time.
  • Lift up to 25 pounds at times.
  • Travel to project sites in vehicles.

GRI offers a comprehensive compensation package that includes competitive salary, generous PTO accrual, 9 paid holidays, 401K with immediate company contribution, 100% employer paid Medical / Dental / Vision / Life / Disability insurance, eligibility for annual bonuses, and continuing education and training reimbursement programs.

Salary: $105,000.00 to $135,000.00
