Overview:
We are seeking a meticulous and organized individual to join our team as Surgical Scheduler. The primary responsibility of this role is to ensure all necessary tasks are completed leading up to patient procedures, surgeries, and follow-up testing. This position plays a crucial role in coordinating and facilitating healthcare services to ensure optimal patient care and satisfaction.
Pay range: $21.00-23.00*
Position Type: Full-time, day shift (about 8am-4pm)

Essential Duties of Surgical Scheduler:
- Schedule hospital or office-based procedures, surgeries and follow up testing
- Complete prior authorizations and verify insurance
- Provide patients and facilities with applicable instructions, forms and consents and ensure all pre-testing is completed
- Ensure patients have proper medical clearance and completion of assessment for advanced directive, including DNR when applicable
- Schedule standby or supplemental Providers for procedures and surgeries, if applicable
- Coordinate any special equipment and pharmaceutical needs with vendor representatives and facility or department manager
- Provide assistance to patients and their families in regards to preparing for surgery or procedure by answering questions and addressing concerns
- Manage incoming mail and fax documents in accordance with company policy and process medical record requests
- Process lab and testing orders as directed by Providers
- Provide excellent customer service with professionalism and strong interpersonal skills to ensure a positive experience for patients, vendors, and other healthcare team members
- Perform other duties assigned by management.
Minimum Qualifications of a Surgical Scheduler:
Education:
High School diploma or equivalency
Experience:
1-2 years of experience in a medical office setting, required
Experience with prior authorizations and surgery scheduling is strongly preferred
Specialized Knowledge/Skills:
- Proficiency in Electronic Medical Records (EMR) and other healthcare technology
- Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple schedules and prioritize tasks
- Excellent interpersonal skills to interact with patients, surgeons, and other healthcare team members
- Knowledge of medical terminology, surgical procedures, and preoperative and post operative instructions
- Familiarity with insurance verification and authorization process
