Job Summary :
The Superintendent will have a deep understanding of pumping and treatment-related projects and how to execute them safely. The superintendent provides on-site coordination for all phases of pumping and water treatment systems, coordinating employees, subcontractors, materials, and equipment, ensuring that specifications are being strictly followed, and work is proceeding on schedule and within budget. The superintendent shall be responsible for scheduling, inspections, quality control, and job site safety. The Superintendent is solely responsible for and will be held accountable for the timely completion of the project and for ensuring that the project is set up in strict accordance with plans, specifications, and local codes. The Superintendent shall schedule all employees, subcontractors, consultants, and vendors, as well as ensure their completion of work within the time allowed. The Superintendent shall be responsible for the coordination of work directed in the field, provided work is performed following plans and specifications. Conflicts or revisions to the plan shall be communicated with the project team (i.e., superiors, architect, engineer, consultant, and owner) for mutual resolution, before execution of work that deviates from the approved plans. The Superintendent shall establish and enforce job site quality control programs to ensure quality completion of construction. The Superintendent does not have authorization to engage in monetary agreements (subcontracts, change orders, work authorizations). All requests for monetary agreements must be communicated to the Branch Operations Manager and Project Manager for consideration before work is performed. Failure to perform these duties will result in reprimand or termination.
Essential Functions / Major Responsibilities of Superintendent :
- Perform quality control duties and responsibilities regarding the work being performed.
- Creates and manages the schedule and time for all field personnel
- Communicate with the project manager regarding Change Orders, RFIs, and Material Submittals.
- Ensure that the field crew is fully executing and complying with his contracted scope of work.
- Coordinate required inspections with local jurisdictions.
- Ensure all work is being performed safely, site safety procedures are followed, all Griffin personnel are utilizing proper PPE, and all work is being performed in accordance with Griffin’s SOPs.
- Identify employee / subcontractor non-compliance with safety, health, and environmental quality standards.
- Identify conflicts in construction progress and communicate them to the project manager for resolution.
- Maintain a daily job log (written) of activities on the job site.
- Perform Superintendent duties at multiple job sites, simultaneously.
- Ensure the field crew has corrected all deficiencies identified by the project team.
- Issue notices of non-compliance to subcontractors regarding quality of work or scheduling.
- Ensure that the job site is always kept in a clean and organized manner.
- Perform job progress and completion punch list identification and completion.
- Ensures workers for each task are fully qualified to perform assigned duties
Secondary Functions :
Supervisory Responsibility :
The superintendent shall supervise all subcontractors, consultants, and vendors daily. This supervision shall ensure adequate manpower is available for each task and compliant work performed. This position shall be responsible for monitoring project security personnel. The superintendent shall supervise all Assistant-Superintendents.

Education and / or Experience :
Minimum of five years of verifiable experience, thorough knowledge of trades, and computer literacy. Experience in underground utilities is preferred. Office experience in Microsoft Office (Excel, word, project & Outlook) is also preferred. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of an organization. Prior experience as a superintendent or other comparable roles is preferred.
