CONTRACT INFORMATION
The HCL employment contract has key differences in terms and conditions to BMA standards, aligned with HCL’s status as a limited commercial company rather than an NHS entity. Continuity of service for NHS roles is not recognised beyond employment with HCL. Probation provisions include a six-month period with full guidance and support. Annual salary increases remain discretionary, reviewed by the HCL board, considering national NHS uplifts, but are not contractually guaranteed. Benefits such as annual leave (30 days plus 8 public holidays), HCL's enhanced maternity leave, and sick pay differ from the BMA standard provisions. Standard notice is 3 months, with standard PILON clauses in place. Study leave remains discretionary, determined case-by-case.
