What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lead Phlebotomist GFP position at Griffin Hospital?
Title: Lead Phlebotomist, GFP
Main Function:
1. Performs phlebotomy duties at GFP offices. Draws blood specimen from patients, both venous and capillary, labels tubes & accompanying lab requisitions following departmental procedures. Opens GFP lab daily, runs quality controls on lab point of care testing and assists in having backup trained. Assists Quality Manager in developing phlebotomy workflows for all GFP offices. Assist with precepting of new phlebotomists and students.
2. Performs a given aspect of testing in any laboratory section; records and reports results of tests performed according to laboratory standards.
3. Responsible for ensuring a continuous workflow within the department so that services and patient needs are addressed in a timely manner. Assists Quality Manager in developing phlebotomy workflows for all GFP offices. Assist Quality Manager with point of care testing competencies of staff.
4. Maintains responsibility for attendance/reliability to ensure that GFP operates in an efficient and cost effective manner. Assist with onboarding of new hires. Assist Quality Manager with Phlebotomy Bootcamp.
5. Contributes to the mission of the Organization by supporting the Employee Philosophy, Planetree Model of Care, and organizational goals.
Education:
High school education with additional training in phlebotomy or medical assisting. Phlebotomy certification required.
Experience:
Experience preferred.
