What are the responsibilities and job description for the Patient Access Specialist position at Griffin Hospital?
MAIN FUNCTION: Emergency Room Registration: Responsible for the performance of all registration/pre-registration functions at all Patient Access intake points of entry. Communicates with patients, families, physicians, and insurance companies to obtain information and insurance verification through electronic verification system and to assure quality patient care and collection of co-pays, and deductibles if applicable. Interviews and registers patients. Provides other registration support as required.
EDUCATION: High school graduation or equivalent.
EXPERIENCE: Strong medical terminology skills are required. One year related health care experience. Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills. Working knowledge and utilization of equipment used. Proficient use of hospital registration and support systems. Excellent customer service skills; professional and courteous behavior to ensure a positive image within the community served and to promote customer satisfaction. Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple tasks in a timely manner. Ability to work as a member of a team.
