Job Summary: We are seeking a passionate and detail-oriented storyteller to join our newsroom as an Editor/Photojournalist. In this dual role, you will serve as both a Photojournalist, capturing and editing engaging videos for news, sports, and special features across TV, digital platforms, and social media, and as an Editor, responsible for ensuring high-quality video production for assigned newscasts. You will also manage video archiving and maintain the archive system. This position requires strong technical skills, a team player mentality, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced news environment. Knowledge of NPPA storytelling principles is a plus.
Job Responsibilities:
- Record high-quality video and sound for broadcasts and digital platforms, ensuring excellent photojournalism, lighting, and editing skills.
- Review and edit stories and produce polished news segments using advanced software like Avid or Adobe Premiere, maintaining sequencing, transitions, and visual appeal. This includes cutting, color correction, sound mixing, and adding graphics or effects as needed.
- Work with Reporters, Producers, other Photojournalists and Editors, and News managers to develop compelling news, feature stories, and breaking news events.
- Communicate with the Assignment Desk and team throughout shift for story coordination.
- Ensure the operational status of equipment and keep software up-to-date. Report technical issues for prompt resolution.
- Download, organize, and archive footage daily, maintaining an accessible library of media assets.
- Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability to meet tight deadlines while balancing multiple projects and changing news events.
- Ensure all content meets broadcast quality standards and complies with journalistic ethics and legal regulations including accuracy, fairness, and objectivity in all aspects of news gathering and reporting.
- Stay current on industry trends, events, technology, and terminology, demonstrating adaptability in responding to changing news events, deadlines, and priorities.
- Prioritize safety protocols while covering assignments in the field, including adherence to safety guidelines and procedures.
- Take in feeds from network and sister station. Receive satellite, microwave, and fiber optic feeds as necessary.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned, including driving an automobile for company business.
Job Schedule: This is a full-time position primarily working 40 hours per week. You may also be called upon at times to fill in other hours and days of the week to help cover vacations, illnesses, breaking news, severe weather, or special projects/events. This position is not eligible to work remotely.

Skills and Requirements:
- Minimum two years of college or trade school with emphasis on Broadcast Production, Journalism, or related field. Related experience will be evaluated and may be substituted as years of education.
- Proficiency in operating editing and recording equipment. Familiarity with at least one non-linear editing platform (ex. Avid, Adobe Premiere, Edius, DaVinci, etc.). Knowledge of Avid is preferred but not required.
- Proficiency in operating professional camera equipment, video cameras, and accessories. At least one year of news editing and videography experience preferred.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to evolving newsroom technologies and workflows.
- Strong interpersonal skills, ability to collaborate effectively with others, and a readiness to assist in all aspects of newsgathering.
- Ability to work independently or with a reporter to capture stories under tight deadlines.
- Passion for storytelling with an understanding of National Press Photographers Association (NPPA) principles and practices.
- Familiarity with journalistic ethics and standards, ensuring integrity in all aspects of reporting.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Link of previous work sample required.
- Must have, or be able to obtain, a valid Oklahoma driver’s license and have a driving record acceptable to the company.
- Ability to perform other job-related duties as assigned.
