If you are equally passionate about our vision and want to be surrounded by a team of dynamic, smart and innovative people, the Griffin Museum of Science and Industry is the right place for you!The Job : The Sr. Designer is responsible for working collaboratively to design and problem-solve graphic solutions and for a variety of Museum projects including exhibitions, print collateral, signage, and experiences.ResponsibilitiesConceptualize, plan and design graphics for permanent, temporary and touring exhibits as well as other non-exhibit, print and digital projects.Facilitate, conduct and / or participate in group creative discussions, charrettes, design meetings, staff meetings, reviews and project critiques.Research, organize and present graphic design concepts, visual references and innovative design solutions.Develop and complete design assignments from preliminary design concepts through completion.Coordinate communications with internal clients regarding design solutions, materials and project timelines.Work closely with and provide support to the Production Manager to elevate and solve creative issues in a timely manner.Provide graphic files for production and work within established budgets and timelines.Coordinate, maintain and organize digital and hardcopy archives of all graphic design projects.Participate in the ongoing development of the Museum's exhibit design and fabrication standards.Provide show quality standards and evaluation for existing facilities and exhibits by participating in exhibit walkthroughs and facility reviews.Participate in the daily operations, cleanliness, safety and organization and efficiency of the Design Department and production areas.Other duties as assigned.QualificationsFive (5) plus years' experience in graphic design / visual communications.Bachelor's degree is a plus.Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.Highly organized self-starter who is capable of working independently or in a collaborative group.Strong Microsoft Office Suite and Mac / Adobe Creative Suite applications including InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop.Familiarity with graphic output and production equipment.Strong understanding of three-dimensional design, including scale.Ability to write, proofread and edit basic text and label information.Working knowledge of industry standards, practices and terms for graphic design and production fields.Understanding of ADA and local, state and federal building codes.Must be comfortable with occasional work at high levels.Bilingual in Spanish is a plus.Language : Ability to read and interpret documents, write routine reports and correspondence.Ability to speak effectively before groups of employees of the organization.Mathematical : Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as basic math, percentages, pro-ration, etc.Reasoning : Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concreate variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.Physical : While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear.The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms.The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, or crouch.The employee must occasionally lift and / or move up to 40 pounds.Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.Work Environment : The employee is occasionally exposed to humid and / or outside weather conditions.The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.Position created on October 15th, 2024 Our DEAI MissionThe Griffin Museum of Science and Industry is committed to advancing diversity, equity, accessibility and inclusion across our workforce, experiences, and day-to-day operations.
