Title: Spanish Teacher

Position Summary
At MIT Academy, under the guidance of the School Director, the Spanish Teacher plays a pivotal role in shaping an engaging and inclusive educational experience for all students. The teacher is tasked with designing and delivering standards-aligned instruction that empowers students to meet and exceed State standards while reaching their full potential. This includes creating and maintaining a safe, supportive, and academically rigorous learning environment. Success in this role relies on active collaboration with colleagues to develop cohesive lesson and unit plans that drive student achievement and mastery of key content standards.
The typical teaching assignments at MIT-H involve the following components:
- Schedule Type: Modified Block Schedule (7 periods plus advisory and flex)
- Number of classes: 7 regular classes
- Number of advisories (if applicable): 1 Advisory Class (SOAR) and one Flex class
- Number of prep periods per day/week: 2 long (90min each), 1 short (40 min)
- Average number of students per class: 28

Primary Responsibilities
Instruction and Student Achievement

- Data & Assessment: Participates in schoolwide standardized testing and PLC assessments and regularly engages, individually and in PLCs, in analyzing student data, adjusting instruction, and/or implementing other data-driven decisions.
- Support for Special Needs Students: Participates in IEP and 504 meetings and provides instruction to students with special needs in accordance with the plans developed, utilizing support services as appropriate.

Work Environment
This job operates in a classroom environment. This role routinely uses standard classroom equipment such as instructional-related supplies, laptops, photocopiers, whiteboards, and Chromebooks.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to walk across the school campus, lift and carry materials up to 20-30 pounds, and bend, stoop, or reach to organize supplies. The role also involves standing or sitting for extended periods, using fine motor skills for tasks such as writing and typing, and maintaining communication with students and staff. The employee must be able to climb steps or stools and manage physical stamina for active classroom supervision.
Experience
- Teaching experience is desirable, but related work experience may be considered.

Education
- Bachelor’s Degree required
- Valid California Single Subject Foreign Language: Spanish Credential
- English Learner (EL) Authorization Certificate
