This Special Education Teacher position at Griffith Public School District is an exciting opportunity for a dedicated and passionate educator to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing direct and indirect services to assigned students according to their IEP or ISP.
Responsibilities:
- Develops and implements individualized education programs (IEPs) that cater to the unique needs of students with exceptionalities.
- Participates in case conference committee meetings to ensure comprehensive support for students.
- Collaborates with general education teachers, diagnostic staff, and related service providers to complete initial evaluations and reevaluations within required timelines.
- Ensures accommodations on statewide or district assessments are implemented according to students' IEPs.
- Directs and evaluates paraprofessionals as assigned to provide appropriate support to meet student needs.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university in a job-related area.
- Current Indiana State Teaching License on file in the central office.
- Successful student teaching experience in areas of exceptionality.
- Proficiency with curriculum software and basic knowledge of special education laws and regulations.
- Desire to continue career improvement.
