Job Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and proactive Construction Supervisor to oversee mechanical dredging operations and marine-based construction activities. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of managing dredging projects, supervising crews, and ensuring compliance with marine construction site safety, quality, and environmental standards. The role requires expertise in mechanical dredging techniques, marine operations, and the ability to coordinate activities between marine crews, equipment, and other stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise Construction Operations:
- Lead and manage all mechanical dredging and marine operations on-site.
- Supervise and coordinate daily activities of dredging crews, equipment, and subcontractors.
- Ensure all operations are carried out efficiently, safely, and according to project specifications.
- Safety and Compliance:
- Enforce and promote a strong safety culture, ensuring compliance with all safety protocols, maritime regulations, and environmental guidelines.
- Conduct regular site inspections to identify hazards and implement corrective actions as necessary.
- Ensure that all work is completed in accordance with relevant health, safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
- Project Planning and Coordination:
- Work closely with the Project Manager to plan and schedule dredging and marine operations.
- Monitor progress, ensuring that dredging activities meet project timelines and specifications.
- Liaise with engineers, planners, and other team members to resolve issues, provide feedback, and adjust plans as necessary.
- Equipment Management:
- Oversee the operation and maintenance of dredging equipment, including excavators, barges, work boats, and related marine equipment.
- Ensure proper maintenance, repair, and readiness of all equipment for operations.
- Coordinate with maintenance teams for timely repairs and troubleshooting of equipment issues.
- Quality Control:
- Ensure that dredging activities meet the required quality standards and specifications.
- Review project drawings, plans, and technical documentation to confirm the accuracy and quality of work.
- Maintain detailed records of all dredging activities, including progress reports, production rates, and environmental impact assessments.
- Team Management:
- Supervise, train, and mentor dredging crews and marine personnel, ensuring they have the skills and knowledge to perform tasks safely and efficiently.
- Conduct performance evaluations, provide feedback, and manage personnel issues as needed.
- Foster a positive and productive work environment on-site.
- Environmental and Community Awareness:
- Ensure that all dredging activities minimize environmental impact, including managing spoil disposal, monitoring water quality, and protecting marine ecosystems.
- Work with environmental specialists to monitor and assess the environmental impact of dredging operations.
- Communicate effectively with local communities and stakeholders regarding the project’s progress and any potential concerns.
- Reporting and Documentation:
- Prepare daily and weekly reports on the progress of mechanical dredging and marine operations.
- Maintain accurate records of project activities, including hours worked, equipment usage, material quantities, and safety incidents.
- Provide regular updates to the Project Manager regarding project status, issues, and potential delays.
Qualifications:
- Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management is preferred but not required.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 7-10 years of hands-on experience in construction, with at least 3 years specifically in mechanical dredging and marine operations.
- Proven track record of managing dredging projects, supervising marine crews, and operating dredging equipment.
- Strong understanding of marine construction techniques, dredging methods, and the operation of marine vessels.
- Skills:
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- In-depth knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in dredging and marine construction.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
- Certifications:
