PRIMARY PURPOSE:

The Customer Service Representative – Utility Products supports the day-to-day operations of our utility customers by promoting sales, obtaining orders, putting together quotes and providing excellent service to our customers. The individual hired for this position will provide timely follow-up on technical inquiries, maintain reports, actively participate in the marketing and sale of Grip-Tite’s products, resolve customer billing problems, and may provide input on product evaluations, code descriptions, inventory management, and pricing development.

PRIMARY FOCUS:

  • Obtains orders and provides proactive customer service regarding sales and service functions including order entry, expediting, pricing, returns, coordinating deliveries, samples, and follows-up on customer inquiries, as required.
  • Provides timely follow-up on customer technical inquiries and requests and works with internal resources as necessary to ensure the accuracy of information.
  • Maintains open order reports, reviews A/R aging reports, and runs other reports deemed necessary on a consistent basis.
  • Actively participates in the marketing and sale of Grip-Tite utility products.
  • Consistently provides responsive, quality service to meet and exceed customer expectations.
  • Provides input to the Grip-Tite team regarding customer needs and/or concerns regarding pricing, inventory, products, competition and procedures.
  • Coordinates with accounting/finance members to resolve customer-billing problems resulting from errors in pricing, shipping, delivery or other credit areas.  Ensures credit memos are entered as necessary. 
  • Ensures timely payment of commissions.

 SECONDARY FOCUS:

  • May provide input to the pricing and purchasing areas on product evaluations, code descriptions, inventory management, pricing development, and other related functions.
  • Attends sales meetings and training programs, as required.
  • May assist with sales meetings and trade shows and create presentation materials as needed.
  • May develop quotations and request bid or performance bonds for customers within company profit objectives and guidelines.
  • Learns how to utilize internal tools and resources to ensure effective CRM utilization. 

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Excellent customer service skills include being reliable, competent, accurate, responsive and engaged.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication, reading, and customer service skills are preferred.
  • Ability to effectively plan and organize time based on priorities and due dates. 
  • Must be a self-starter who can learn the Grip-Tite product line quickly. 

EDUCATION:

  • Minimum of a two-year business/trade degree preferred or the equivalent in work experience.
  • Minimum of two years of prior customer service or sales experience with strong knowledge of electrical products and systems preferred.
  • Technical ability to understand electrical systems with a minimum of two-years of prior electrical distribution experience preferred.
  • Prefer strong working knowledge of PC for Windows, Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint), Internet, Email and Acumatica software.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

This position will require standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching at times throughout the day with the ability to be mobile throughout required work areas.
