JOB SUMMARY
The SIU/Subrogation Supervisor is responsible for the investigation of potential fraud in homeowners’ insurance claims. This position implements and ensures compliance with policies and procedures that contribute to fraud control objectives. The position implements and ensures compliance with policies and procedures related to subrogation recovery activities.
Hybrid/Remote - must live within 60 miles of our Tampa HQ.
Essential Functions
To foster HCI’s commitment to creating a collaborative work environment, remote workers will be required to report to a central office location for one week every quarter for collaboration, team building, and educational exercises. Attendance during collaboration weeks is a vital component of our team culture, and therefore mandatory unless exceptions are approved through Human Resources. Additionally, employees may be asked to report to the office outside of collaboration weeks as project requirements, team meetings, or other organizational needs that necessitate in-person collaboration occur.

Essential Functions
- Responsible for homeowners’ insurance fraud detection and investigation services to reduce fraud related claim payments and costs while avoiding unwarranted risk
- Directs the investigation of fraud cases
- Ensures compliance with laws and regulations relating to claims handling and unfair claims practices
- Evaluates, authorizes, and implements actions to carry out pro-active claims fraud projects and investigations
- Reviews and evaluates investigation recommendations to ensure results and case documentation support conclusions and recommendations
- Approves referrals to appropriate law enforcement agencies. Makes recommendations to promote law enforcement
- Maintains assigned case load
- Assists in the development of SIU processes
- Implements training of SIU and claims staff
- Participates in the establishment and implementation of policies and procedures for fraud control and investigative practices
- Participates in special projects and initiatives
- Responsible for company’s subrogation services, including supervising subrogation staff and overseeing counsel
- Implements training of Subrogation and claims staff
- Participates in the establishment and implementation of policies and procedures for subrogation recovery
- Assists in the development of subrogation procedures
- Directs subrogation matters, including recommending instituting subrogation actions and settlements
- Reviews and evaluates subrogation referrals to ensure results and case documentation
- 5 years’ of property claims investigative experience. Command or management experience in law enforcement, military investigation, or SIU organization highly desired.
- 3 years’ in a supervisory or leadership position
- Excellent communication skills both verbally and written
- Negotiation experience preferred
- Thorough knowledge of the Internet, and Internet based research
- Proficient in all MS Office applications; advanced Excel skills
- Must possess the ability to scrutinize or analyze comprehensive background searches and prior claim histories.
- Ability to harvest, prepare, sort, and present various data
- Bachelor's degree preferred, or a combination of equivalent experience and education
- Florida 5-20 or 6-20 insurance license in good standing
