Business Internship-WR
(Western Region – Sales)
Job Summary:
As a Business Intern at Cla-Val Automatic Control Valves, your primary objective is to engage in a comprehensive immersion into the company's unique culture and operations. This internship is designed to provide hands-on experience across various departments, including Inside and Outside Sales, Production, Engineering, and Accounting. Throughout the internship, you will actively contribute to company goals while gaining exposure to real-world business scenarios.

Examples of Duties and Responsibilities:
Attend an 8 Week Summer Internship at the Cla-Val Headquarters
Work on the factory floor to understand the assembly process.
Attend Cla-Val University
Meet the departments in which you will be working.
Work with the Southern California Outside Sales Team.
Gain a detailed understanding of specifications, submittal processes, job walks, and start-ups.
Hands-on training of products in the field.
Explore Link2Valves and how our asset management program shapes current and future business.
Shadow members of our inside sales and production team.
Learn order entry, understand quotations, and witness how an order converts to built products.
Data Entry & Record Keeping.
Assist in conducting basic financial analysis, reviewing financial statements, identifying trends, and preparing reports.
Review and process invoices, verify expenses, and assist with payments.
Complete a 20 minute presentation to the Cla-Val executive team detailing the summer internship program at the completion of the term.
Regular punctuality, attendance, and absence reporting in conformance with company policies is essential to the successful performance of this position. Team members with irregular attendance records will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment; and
Fully comply with company rules, policies, procedures, and safety guidelines to ensure safe and effective operations.
QUALIFICATIONS GUIDELINES:
Currently enrolled in a 4-year university program.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Skilled in operation of computer hardware, office equipment and software applications functions involving sales and order entry work;
Ability to be trained in company related software systems (ex: Syteline, SharePoint, Shiva, Microsoft OneNote & Teams)
Ability to read and understand schematics, engineering drawings, bills of materials, and test reports;
Ability to read and interpret purchase orders and product specifications;
Ability to communicate and work cooperatively with others including co-workers and customers;
Ability to understand and follow instructions;
Ability to organize and complete assigned work as scheduled;
Ability to type 45 wpm.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to occasionally lift, move or carry literature, materials, pilot controls and small valves weighing up to 10 pounds;
Ability to Input Data for extended periods of time during the workday;
Ability to operate office equipment such as computers, printers, filing cabinets, photocopiers and other office equipment, as applicable;
Ability to work (sit and/or stand) at a desk for majority of the workday; walking and/or standing may be required for extended periods of time, but not typical;
Requires grasping, writing, sitting, standing, walking, repetitive motions, pulling, pushing, listening and hearing ability, and visual acuity;
Ability to perform essential functions of the job, as defined;
